New report by Center for Outcomes Research and Education (CORE) and Enterprise shows #affordablehousing improves health and reduces costs with 4 key findings: 1. Health care system costs decreased after people moved into affordable housing – with total Medicaid expenditures declining by 12%. 2. Primary care visits went up more than 20% after people moved into affordable housing – emergency departments went down 18%. 3. Residents reported that access to care improved by 40%, while quality of care improved 38%. 4. The availability of integrated health services was key to reducing costs and lowering use of emergency departments. http://bit.ly/1KZ3Owq

It was an honor to celebrate the grand opening of #WillowHousing yesterday in Menlo Park! Willow Housing provides quality affordable housing for formerly homeless veterans and those at risk of imminent homelessness, as well as services to give these individuals the skills and confidence they need to build self-sufficiency. It resides on a two-acre corner of the VA Palo Alto Health Care System campus in Menlo Park. The project originated from the Federal BURR Initiative, a Congressional effort to eliminate the nationwide housing crisis among veterans. Many partners made this project a reality, including: EAH Housing, The Core Companies , U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the City of Menlo Park Government, the County of San Mateo, HomeFirst Services, funding partners, and many others. This residential community is one step towards #endvetshomelessness and it won't be the last! Ongoing support is crucial and we are proud to serve those who served.
