10 Albums Over 10 Days That I Still Listen To & That Had An Impact On My Life. Day 10 Sleater Kinney My all time favorite band. To quote Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder “You know how you wish you could have seen The Beatles or Jimi Hendrix or The Who with Keith Moon on drums? Well I am fortunate and extremely grateful to live in a time when I could see Sleater Kinney play live” so true I have been fortunate enough to see them live twice once in Vancouver and once in Denver sigh magical. The band formed in 1995 in Olympia Washington relocating to Portland Oregon and released their self titled first record. They came into my radar when their song I Wanna Be Your Joey Ramone was featured in the movie All Over Me. That song off their second record the classic Call The Doctor (1996) I was hooked. Next came to their first masterpiece Dig Me Out (1997) which contained the classics One More Hour (a fantastic lesbian break up song) and One of their live trademarks Words and Guitar. That was followed by a couple more listens 1999’s The Hot Rock and 2000’s All Hands On The Bad One. Then in 2002 after 9/11 the girls released their second masterpiece the blistering One Beat a brilliant attack on the Iraq war plus it has another of my favorite songs one it Light Rail Coyote. Then in 2005 The Woods....my all time favorite record ever a rock masterpiece I mean Entertain, The Fox, Modern Girl, Jumpers and the 11 minute Let’s Call It Love the girls became Led Zeppelin. I was crushed to learn that after the woods the girls took an indefinite hiatus with Corin going solo and releasing two great records, Janet drumming in Stephen Malkmus’s band and Carrie jumping into acting with the hilarious Portlandia. Janet and Carrie also formed White Flag . Then In 2015 the girls got back together and released No Cities To Love ❤️ and toured .
