Wow. Just wow. In between the country's elections and me just getting a job I have a bleepload to talk about that lots of people wouldn't have the interest to read. But who cares. Anyway, I guess I'll start this up with the fact that I'm upset about Madam MDS not getting her shot at being President. There is no one, no one more deserving and fit to to lead this country more than her. Two times already, she has proven that she was the best bet, only for the Filipino people to decide otherwise, but in the end realise, "We should have chosen Miriam". Well, guys, thank so much for ramping it up to a third. Hope you're happy. Hope your choice, the man who claimed we don't need international connections, the man who dismissed infidelity (as long it's from men), the man who kissed women he doesn't know on camera, can make this nation work like we need it to. Cause if not, we will have made the same mistake three times. I just can't understand how easily we chose to take a risk. How we just let the sure win slip from our fingers when what we should have done was hold her tight and embrace her as you would a lover. Why? Was it for the thrill? The gamble? Was it for the amazing feeling you get when you find yourself right after rooting for the underdog? If you find yourself right. If. Or is it the fact that we just can't handle Madam Miriam? That she really is too good to be true. As it was said on The Perks of Being a Wallflower, "We accept the love we think we deserve." Maybe deep down inside we know that, and we cover ourselves up with defense mechanisms. "She's going to die, anyway." "She's lowest in the surveys." "My vote will only be wasted." Those are not valid reasons, those are just excuses! There are lots of valid reasons against the other candidates, but her? Her track record is golden. She's known worldwide for her greatness! She has served us with excellence! She cares genuinely for the Filipino people. Why else would she put herself up there? This is not for her. She has so many paths available that would take her down a happier, more successful life abroad. But she chose to stay. She chose us. And what did we choose? I guess we chose someone who's more in our league. Who's not too hard to reach. I guess we chose someone who was a lot like us. Rash. Fine but not the best. A little bit under prepared. A little bit undeserving. Whatever. Who am I to judge. I'm just like you. I'm just like our future president. In a way. We're all just hoping for a better country. We're all just doing what we think is best. It's just that what I think is best is not always what everyone thinks is best. Life goes on. We live, we grow, we learn. I'm just hoping that one day, when we're all prepared, when we're all mature enough, when we're all deserving, we'd still have someone like Miriam to step up. It would be so awful if Miriam would be the only chance we'd get, and we'd never be able to get another one. But martyrs, I've found, aren't only made through death. Perhaps our letting Miriam go became a trigger to some people. An inspiration. A little push. Maybe someone is out there aiming to be as great as her, maybe even greater. Maybe then, I'll finally be able to agree with the majority about what's best for our country. As for now, Mayor Duterte, please be enough. If you can't be excellent, at least be good. You can be, as everyone believes, but please choose to be. Not for me but for the children I'm going to find looking up at me in the future. For the little minds that lean on the government with regards to them building their own futures. Please. Be good enough.
