A story told in 3 snapchats.
[I miss getting into trouble with my cousin. Long story short. We were bartenders at our local fair all this week. One of our bosses dropped a golf cart off for us so we didn't have to walk all the way across the fair grounds after we closed up for the night. Well, we closed up the bar last night, hung out with the band after they got done packing up their stuff, did shots with them, got drunk. Then tried to convince the security guard to come with us to go race the golf cart on the track. He politely declined after we held him hostage in the beer gardens for like 30 minutes trying to get him to come hang out with us for an after party 馃槄]
#can we appreciate mad world playing on my cousins speaker in the 2nd video#it was perfect timing#north dakota#county fair#you know#mark probably gave us an almost dead gold cart because he figured we were going to go do something stupid with it#wise man

If you haven鈥檛 changed your url in years tell me why as someone in your same boat it鈥檚 for science
#it has been the same for well over a decade#at this point it would feel like ripping a piece of myself off if i change it#its also a loose reference to a song i loved at the time and still occasionally listen to#(when i remember the artist exists because he is a very VERY small artist)

This good boy is a chimera, which is an animal that is genetically two animals, in this case he鈥檚 a yellow and black lab. This means he is twice the good boy. (Not my picture, found on Facebook)

猬嗭笍 A lot of them, unfortunately, yes. And to the other person, a lot of plant based fabrics are either too delicate to withstand aggressive/daily use. Don't have the needed qualities that wool/leather do and don't make a good substitute, or are bonded with some sort of plastic/plastic adjacent material to gain the needed qualities it's trying to achieve in replacement of wool/leather/fur. There's a place for them, but it's not going to replace everything.
I'm all for civil discussions on touchy matters and differing view points.
I would say I'm pro-locally sourced vs vegan when it comes to animal activism. But I'll be 100% honest when I say I won't bother engaging with people that don't know the basics of any sort of animal care/husbandry, then claiming it's all abuse. We domesticated these animals. It's our duty as stewards to care for them.
Over the past month actually I've been getting A TON of things popping up on my socials of animal sanctuaries (specifically sheep) with tag lines of "we saved these sheep so their wool won't be taken from them/they won't have to be sheared ever again and can live happily./ect.)
And it's like, honey no. God no. Please turn those sheep over to someone who's not going to neglect their needs or make them live in misery. The audacity to call themselves sanctuaries and not know or understand the very basic needs of the animals they're claiming to have saved. I hope someone is out there doing welfare checks 馃槵
And again. I get it. There is a huge difference between commercial vs small farm. That's why I choose to either buy my animal products(and honestly most of my daily use products) straight from the farmers/local families or I raise my own animals for my needs. And I also get that not everyone is able to do that either. But I would like if the "radical" animal advocates would at least acknowledge that keeping livestock/animals for utility means can be humanely done.
Unironically, vegans need to be advocating for more and better sheep, llama, and alpaca farms. Wool is one of the best fabrics we have in terms of versatility, longevity and most importantly, insulation. Even wet, it retains 80% of it鈥檚 insulation potential.
AND IT DOESN鈥橳 SHED MICROPLASTICS

When I started reading this, I read "orcs" as "orcas" and I didn't even question the fact that they were trying to domesticate wild boar.
honestly, orcs have it figured out, the boar is the perfect livestock animal. it's its own guard dog, if you breed them large enough you can mount them in battle, thick durable leather, will eat nearly anything, and absolutely delicious.
you have to get past the "will gore you as well", but after that you're golden.

I was the photographer for a drag workshop recently, mainly for some before and after pictures. And I'm telling you this because I mainly photograph horses and boy do these skills not translate
You see, humans are not sporthorses. And I very rarely have to give instructions from behind the camera to a sporthorse. So when the first guy came up for before-shots, I looked through my camera and.... he was just sort of staring back at me. So I automatically did what I would usually do if I had a distracted dressage horse in front of me: I whistled at this poor man.
His reaction wasn't remotely similar to that of a thoroughbred. He was rather mortified. So was I.
#oh boy#this reminds me of where you spend a little too much time around horses and not enough around people#and then try giving people ques or clucking at them to move or do something 馃槄#i am very guilty of treating and talking to my fellow humans like i do my horses...
