i found this new yorker article, “what happens to a school shooter’s sister?,” to be a very thoughtful and insightful meditation on what incarceration really looks like and means from the angle of so-called justice from multiple perspectives and provides some angles to start thinking about restoration. i highly recommend you give it a read!
p.s: here’s an archived link to get around the paywall
#read it a day ago and have been chewing on it a bit#i feel like this is a really good starting point for people who maybe haven’t thought a lot about restorative justice or just like the#nature of incarceration because it takes on so many different perspectives

I’m reading a paper that uses the term re-transition as opposed to detransition and it crystallised a lot of my problems with the term. detransition implies an ability to return to the “default” “normal” cisgender body that lurks within all of us, just waiting to be re-excavated after a period of intentional (deceitful) burial, and a turning “back” or away from the freakish mutilation and “deviance” of transgender transition to a more natural, more authentic body - a body that can never be transformed, only temporarily cloaked by medicine and social trickery on the part of trans people

Please support this initiative! For every $10, SIHA Network is able to provide one menstrual hygiene kit for a Sudanese woman or girl. That is a small amount to pay for an incredibly powerful donation.
Donate directly at the link below.
(I found this charity from this tweet. The price for menstrual hygiene kits seems to have gone up since it was written.)

Hey guys something fucking bad happened
KOSA/the kids online safety act has been reintroduced into legislature after it passed Senate last year and then got snubbed. It is not unlike the bill that just passed in the UK a few weeks ago. If you don't want what happened in the UK to happen here, now would be a good time to vocally oppose it.
Here is a petition that can be signed by Americans. Attached to the petition is an easy tool that allows you to call and leave messages for your representatives. I have already done so. You can also email your representatives by searching for their name, most have message submission boards as well. This thing died once, it can die again.
Please sign/share the petition and contact your representatives.

I think the concept of introversion may have harmed a lot of people, tbh
#this is soooo true like how in pop psychology or whatevs introversion = you’re quiet and/or shy so i spent like years being like ah okay i’m#introverted and i just don’t need to do as much socialization and then i would go multiple days in a row without really being around people#and then i would be like hm why do i feel horrible guess we’ll never know
