If your application requires more customisation then you can chose AWS EC2.
● Define the migration workflow.
Defining Migration workflow not only gives a clear picture of the migration process to your organisation but also to yourself. This if done via pictorial representation it will be greatly helpful.
● Migrate on phases.
Always remember that you cannot build Rome in a single day. Migrate your infrastructure by breaking them into multiple chunks rather than migrating them all together. Migrating them all together will only create mess and often extend the deadlines with improperly finished tasks.
● Migrate the licenses.
As we all know that all the softwares comes with a license. The licence type may differ depending on the underlying software provider. Few may be username based license others may be IP based or domain name based. Username based licenses may not require migration as the username is going to be same post migration IP and domain based licenses would require rekeying the licenses based upon the new cloud infrastructure.
● Verify the application.
Once the migration is done it has to be verified to ensure the applications are compatible with the newer environment bugs or any incompatibilities should be fixed using temporary URLs or using testing tools.
● Go live on cloud.
Once the applications are tested to be performing fine we can switch the production IP to new cloud environment.
