and agonizing over it for the next twenty years. still holding out hope that she might be alive. after he gets a dragon of his own, he uses every opportunity to look for her.

But that leaves him wondering what could have been the outcome if he hadn’t. He worries that if he hadn’t intervened when he did, Hiccup would be dead.

Wondering if it would have played out differently and just tormenting himself with it for 15 years and probably some time past that, despite having a better understanding of dragons. Stoick just can’t get rid of his guilt, no matter what he does.

He’d most definitely confide in Gobber, but he’s the only one that knows these feelings.

And how would having that guilt change his treatment of Hiccup? Would Hiccup develop twice the guilt complex? (You can’t tell me he doesn’t have one.)

so ive been rewatching dragons: riders/defenders of berk recently and like. i remember dagur being so much more threatening as a kid but as an adult (also having watched race the edge) its like. this dude cannot be older that 17-18. hes just an edgelord with way too much power and people enabling him. i love him so much
