Securing the Future of a Digital Society: Achieving Secure Transfer of Sensitive Data on a Single Fiber
SINGAPORE, May 27, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- Toshiba showcases a commercial adoption of the Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) technology on a live network in the UK, demonstrating the technology is now ready for commercial adoption.
For the full multimedia release, click here: https://www.prnasia.com/mnr/toshiba_202105.shtml
Toshiba, in partnership with BT, have successfully implemented the UK's first industrial deployment of a quantum-secure network, transmitting between the National Composites Centre (NCC) in Bristol, the UK's world-leading composite research and development facility, and the Centre for Modelling & Simulation (CFMS), a not-for-profit research organisation that pioneers new digital engineering capabilities.
The network demonstrates how QKD can be used to secure data traffic between key industrial sites where security is of paramount importance. Quantum cryptography, implemented through QKD, works by securely distributing encryption keys between two communicating parties so that any attempted interception generates errors that are impossible to hide.
The technology solution is being used to replace a 'manual' approach of physically transporting sensitive data on portable storage devices between the NCC and CFMS sites in Emerson's Green and Filton in North Bristol, as well as at the University of Bristol, thereby saving time and enhancing the security of critical data. Instead of physically transmitting the data, it is now transferred at high-speed over 7km of fibre optic cable, along which the encryption keys are also transmitted as a stream of single 'encoded' photons.
Modern enterprises are making investments in digital transformation a priority to evolve the way their facilities and assets perform. As this digital transformation continues at an exponential rate, and the supply chain for design and production becomes smarter and more widely distributed, securing the transmission of data between sites has become critical to protecting sensitive design and product data.
Andrew Shields, Head of Toshiba's Quantum Technology Group in the UK said, "Working with the NCC, CFMS and BT has enabled us to demonstrate our secure quantum communication technology within smart manufacturing applications. By multiplexing the quantum signals on ordinary data carrying fibres, we were able to integrate QKD with a standard BT fibre product, demonstrating that QKD is now ready to be deployed without expensive, dedicated infrastructure."

62% of all Internet traffic in Asia Pacific will cross Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) by 2021 [1]
Enterprises, big and small, are shifting to CDNs. Find out why from CDNetworks at the Cloud Expo Asia 2017, Singapore.
SINGAPORE, Oct. 3, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- In the online world which is getting faster and bigger, China and Southeast Asia are set to play an increasingly important role with its huge number of Internet users and rapid growth of digital, mobile and social media activities. In light of that, CDNetworks will be sharing how enterprises can tap on a cloud-vendor ecosystem for success in Southeast Asia at the upcoming Cloud Expo Asia 2017, Singapore.
For the full multimedia release, click here: http://www.prnasia.com/mnr/CDNetworks_20170922.shtml
China has over 731 million Internet users (as at end 2016) [2]  while SEA has more than 320 million Internet users (as at January 2017).  [3]   For SEA, the current figure of Internet users represents more than half the population with huge potential for growth. According to Frost and Sullivan, SEA will become one of the world’s fastest-growing regions for e-commerce revenues, exceeding US$25 billion by 2020. [4]
Majority of Internet users in China and SEA's emerging markets are mobile natives and expect "Everything as a Service". They have little consumer loyalty and patience, and shift their time, and online spending, to sites that can offer them smooth and seamless experiences.
This demand for seamless Web and mobile experience has led the bulk of Internet traffic to flow over Content Delivery Networks, or CDNs. Users who are well-served by CDNs will have better online experiences -- buffer-free videos and movies, lag-free gaming and smooth transactions. Cisco predicts that 62% of all Internet traffic in Asia Pacific will cross CDNs by 2021.
Submit your URL for an insight into your website’s performance in China. CDNetworks will analyse and conduct a comprehensive performance of your website with tools such as Catchpoint and Dynatrace Gomez. Alternatively, you can contact CDNetworks directly at [email protected].
CDNs is the solution for emerging markets in SEA
With the highly fragmented IT infrastructure and complex regulations in the SEA markets, enterprises, from small and medium businesses to global corporations, will benefit from partnering CDNs in their foray into these markets.
For instance, a CDN with their private networks, well-established infrastructure and local knowledge of emerging markets can help companies navigate local regulations and optimise the performance of their websites and applications based on local/regional telco partnerships, thus providing the best user experience.
Besides optimising web performance for enterprises, a CDN also brings other benefits such as added security (which is a topmost concern for every online business), availability of content even under high-stress situations and data intelligence for insights into customer behaviour.
With its global network of PoPs in more than 100 cities worldwide, CDNetworks is uniquely positioned to partner enterprises, regional telcos, system integrators and cloud vendors to deliver revenue growth in emerging markets. Businesses can also leverage its existing infrastructure and partnerships to accelerate content, e-commerce transactions, videos, voice, games and applications to emerging markets such as Southeast Asia, China and Russia.

The Economist Events' Innovation Summit 2017 discusses Asian innovation in a drawbridge-up world
HONG KONG, Sept. 1, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Economist Events proudly invites you to delve into innovations and technologies that are reshaping Asia's industrial landscape at its annual Innovation Summit 2017 to be held at the JW Marriott in Hong Kong on September 21st 2017. Convening more than 180 C-suite executives, entrepreneurs and critical thinkers from Asia and beyond, the summit will discuss what's next for the region's innovators.
Vijay Vaitheeswaran, US business editor at The Economist, member of the World Economic Forum's global agenda council on the economics of innovation, and conference chair, considers innovation: "the most abused word in the English language". For him, innovation is "fresh thinking that creates value".
Asia must build on its economic strength by adopting savvy policies and regulations that support innovation to counter the effects of globalisation's retreat. For China's world-beating e-commerce platforms and hardware industry, India's booming tech start-up sector and South-East Asia's burgeoning social-media scene, innovation will be crucial to future growth. Speakers from government and business will share how they are driving innovation in and beyond their organisations, and charting new ways to create growth. The lineup includes:
Joseph Entulu, Minister in the prime minister's department, Malaysia
Fanny Lwa Fan Chiu Fun, Member, HKSAR Executive Council
Jumain Appe, Director-general for innovation enhancement, Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, Indonesia
Sam Fischer, President, Greater China and Asia, Diageo
Wiliam Fung, Group chairman, Li & Fung
Yutaka Sanada, Regional senior vice-president and head of operations, Asia and Oceania, Nissan Motor Corporation
Nadiem Makarim, chief executive officer, Go-Jek
This event will address questions such as:
What role can multinationals play in keeping minds and markets open as anti-globalisation sentiment sours the appetite for trade?
Can Asia exploit the growing closed-door mentality in the West and take leadership of global markets?
Is artificial intelligence worth the investment?
Can technology replace manufacturing as a key driver of growth in Asia's developing economies?
Where does the next generation of entrepreneurs see Asia's future opportunities?
Since 2010, The Economist Events' Innovation Initiative has brought together leading thinkers and practitioners from around the world to envision what the company of the future will be like and contemplate how today's companies can achieve the transformations necessary for them to flourish. The initiative engages leading thinkers from government, business and civil society to discuss what it means to be the company of the future, along with the trends critical to industry survival. Every year, the event draws an audience of over 200 in each of Chicago, Berlin and Hong Kong, including Fortune 500 bosses, policymakers and visionary entrepreneurs.

Burning Ice, a 12-episode crime series, is now available to viewers in Hong Kong from September 20 and soon can be watched by audience in Japan, South Korea and more countries in Southeast Asia, North America and Europe via local streaming platforms.
The mini-series, which centers around tangled mystery in a case of serial killer, is the first online drama crafted by Han Sanping, a prominent film director hailed as the Godfather of Chinese film industry. It also features a star-stud cast led by Qin Hao, one of China's best-known film stars of art house productions.
The show has carved out a huge following since its premiere on iQIYI on September 6. The first eight episodes have been viewed more than 180 million times on iQIYI's platform by September 22. It was given 8.5 out of 10 in rating, one of the highest scores for an online drama, by Douban, one of China's leading entertainment rating sites.
Unlike conventional online dramas, Burning Ice, modelled on the mini-series format popular in the United States, has been hotly pursued by several distributors vying for exclusive rights to overseas distribution of the show.
iQIYI has been in recent years exploring opportunity to sell to overseas markets some of its hit dramas. Now several of its shows such as adventure dramas Thy Mystic Nine, Ghost Blows Out the Light-Finding Hubayi, and Tientsin Mystic, a crime show set in the era when China was ruled by the Nationalist Party, have been sold to overseas markets.
This serves as a clear testament to growing popularity of original shows from Chinese video platforms led by iQIYI and the clout of the Chinese brands in the global market.
According to iResearch, China's leading Internet data analytic unit, iQIYI App covers 610 million mobile devices in July, 2017, only following Wechat of Tencent. The total time spent on iQIYI App was 6.9 billion hours during the month, which also makes the video streaming service provider the second in the ranking following Wechat.

Testin Launches Pre-release Testing Service
SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 28, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- With the boom of mobile in 2011, a large number of mobile enterprises have managed to establish themselves as leading roles in the market. However, after 6 years, as mobile enterprises are entering into the second half of development, lots of online markets have been formed, and business models have been verified. At this point in time, the extensive, low-quality apps are either eliminated or abandoned by users. What do these circumstances indicate? It simply means the expectations of the user experience has been elevated to a much higher level.
Because of these new standards, there have solutions to help reach these new benchmarks for building up positive user experience for new apps.
Last quarter, the leading app testing service platform, Testin, just announced a 'Pre-release Testing Service' which the vast majority of future apps cannot do without it. Pre-release Testing Service, as the name indicates, is the last step before the app release. The name is simple; however, the process is not. Enterprises face several critical problems in the process of carrying out app tests.
App test dimensions, methods and tools are numerous. How many of these methods and tools should companies use? To what extent of testing should be considered enough?
Which testing methods and tools are specially designed for the app before release?
What criteria are used in measuring the amount of test services and tools purchased?
How can the value of testing and input embody in the result? How does one confirm that the input of the test is appropriate?
What's the best amount to use for each time, and when?
How to make the enterprise use advanced test ideas and methods in test work?
Industry veteran test expert Zhu Shaomin evaluated the 'Pre-release Testing Service' as the landmark of global app development stepping into the highly processed and professional period. app developers from billion-dollar unicorn companies to small startup teams all require high quality application testing services that's efficient and cost efficient. Due to unified and quotable standardized tests, 'Pre-release Testing Service' can really become the ultimate gatekeeper for application quality.
Compared to the old version of testing, it has several changes. It clarifies the value of the app test itself and classifies customer's differentiated needs for the first time. The old enterprise test is without standard, logic, or quantifiable. The new mode standardizes the quality inspection of apps through scientific methods before they release.
As for quality concerns, the quality system of Testin is fairly standard. It is based on the international standard for SQuaRE (Systems and Software Product Quality Requirements and Evaluation), the international standard ISO/IES 25051:2014 quality model, the national standard GB/T 25000.10-2016, and Testin Quality system. Also, when dealing with customers, it is not rigid. The app test scope, process, and assessment will be adjusted due to actual situation of the app developer, and the app can only be released after ultimate standard acceptance.
Testin 'Pre-release Testing Service' is formed of 4 major processes, 6 quality dimensions, 8 test combinations. 62 test indicators are inspected in one version to ensure that the app's current version is released with quality assurance. Each process has its own clear test objectives and the quality dimension corresponded. Meanwhile, the adding of agile test ideas, reduced the test and repair period greatly and the advantages showed are clearly as follows:
No need to study various of complex test methods or tools.
Measure the test requirements and budgets by app's version, effectively control budget and cost.
Make sure every dollar put in test ensure the success of the release, reflect the value of test.
During non-test cycle, no need to invest in any human or equipment resources.
Strictly ensure that the work before release shall be finished on time with high quality.
Significantly lower non–essential costs such as planning for test, equipment procurement, etc.
The 4 major processes are as below:
1. "Investigation" test target is to ensure that the app functions normally. Using comprehensive test and test combinations, the whole app function is checked through 360-degree review within a fixed period. Every defect that affects normal function has been troubleshoot. The focus of this phase is Functional Suitability;
2. "Verification" is the verification phase after the troubleshooting phase. On the basis of ensuring the app function, the real client is tested. It verifies whether the app design and characteristics meet the actual environment requirements. Meanwhile, it ensures that the client is available. The focus of this phase shall be Operability;
3. "Robust" test goal is to test robustness of app to ensure that the basic conditions for app operation can be normal, and can carry complex user usage after release. This phase focuses on Performance Efficiency, Security, and Reliability;
4. "Acceptance" is a large-scale regression, strengthening, and patching for the first three process testing items, which comprehensively inspects app quality, and shall be released ultimately through Testin combining with international standards ISO/IEC 25051:2014 quality model, the national standard GB/T 25000.10-2016 and Testin 170 million times app test so as to complete the comprehensive quality review of a large version app.
The outcome is reliable. Testin gives a very reliable, flexible and sustainable solution between test efficiency, test cost, and acceptance quality. Perform app test with Testin 'Pre-release Testing Service' before app release, which can ensure the app online timely, stable, without hidden danger and eliminate the developer's previous malicious business attitude towards users.
Testin is a Testing as a Service (TaaS) based company that specializes in mobile app QA testing. After 170 million iteration tests of 2+ million apps in the past 6 years, Testin has grown from an idea to the leader in mobile app quality assurance testing. Testin has secured US$84.9 million in 3 Rounds from IDG, Banyan, Haiyin and CEL, and succeeded in not only capturing the domestic market in China, but also setting its foot into the global arena. Testin has been recognized as 2014 and 2015 Zero2IPO v50 China, 2014 Red Herring 100 Asia and 2015 Red Herring 100 Global, 2015 and 2016 Deloitte High-Tech & Growth Top 50 China. By addressing mobile and OS fragmentations, app's compatibility, functionality, user experience, performance, security and analytics, Testin builds thousands of developers' (including McDonald's, Nestle, Starbucks, Daimler, Philips, Kabam) confidence to ensure great experiences for their users.
