there was a sudden thought that flooded fiona’s mind. her heart threatening to burst out of her chest. her smart, cute reliable husband was standing tall, gracefully slicing onions and wearing a ‘kiss the chef’ apron. only a ‘kiss the chef’ apron. giggling to herself fiona buried her face further into eichi’s side, making sure she got a big whiff of her husband before getting back to work.
“i just wanted to cook some vegetables..” fiona already had the potatoes and the carrots done though the workflow always slowed whenever she was cooking onions.
eyebrow raised ... sort of --- his facial movements were limited --- at her giggle. he wonders what thought had passed through her head to invoke such a thing , but he doesn’t ask. not yet , at least. instead he runs a hand through her hair once more before pulling his suit jacket off. he walks over to the kitchen sink as he rolls his sleeves up.
“ i know ... but i’ll do the onions , okay ? i’ll do them quickly. “ he washes his hands as he speaks , before turning and occupying the spot she had been once before. taking the knife , making careful cuts into the onion. they caused him to tear up too , of course , but it was nothing like fiona. “ don’t stand too close , my love. “ he speaks in warning , just feeling like he needed to before finally turning back to look at her for a moment. “ ... what were you giggling at , by the way ? “
