Modus Operandi
Commercial laundries use bleach, potassium and formaldehyde to produce vintage looks at the risk of consumers, employees and the planet. Our engineers eliminated these harmful components by elevating Oxygen (O2) to Ozone (O3) using patent-pending ‘Wiser Wash’ technology. Ozone, a chemical free oxidizer, contributes to nearly every process at Eco Prk, from topical contrast applications, to cleaning and regenerating all water on the premises.
Let's take a closer look at the Wiser wash...

#1 Preliminary Wash : Rigid jeans enter the facility and are bathed in a twenty-minute 18.3˚c de-size wash. This shrinks the fabric, and dislodges any starch and binders added by the mill. The water is cleaned with ozone, and recycled for later use.

#2 Hand Application : Deconstructionists erode each garment for several hours using fine-grain sand paper and hand drills. Micro-abrasions cause the tightly wound threads to open up and soften. Garments are pressed against hand-carved, bas-relief wood templates to produce realistic wear marks.

#3 Ozone : A powerful non-chemical oxidizer used in place of bleach and potassium permanganate. Ozone is made from a lightning simulator, which adds a destabilizing third molecule to oxygen. This property softens thread fibers and produces localized contrast.

#4 3D : During 3D application, jeans are dipped in organic resin, and slid onto articulating robotic legs, known as ‘Gladiators’. The legs are then sealed in a neoprene balloon, filled with hot air, and baked. The result is a jean with hyper-realistic, permanent wear patterns.

#5 : In the final step, garments are washed with a silicone-based softener, producing the perfect buttery texture. Depending on the batch, Eco Stone, a hand-packed synthetic pumice, is applied during a wash to further loosen fabric. In the end, all water from steps 1-5 is put through an ozone filter. This removes any solid particulate, and allows us to recycle an unprecedented 95% of our wastewater for our next pre-wash.
A portion of our recycled water is used to water our on-campus succulent park.
