Another achievement, another proud moment of joy & one more feather 🪶 in the cap of the department this time by Arpita Kar & Fazil Sheikh. Guided by Prof. Vaibhav Godbole sir, their project 'DockiCraft' bagged the consolation prize at the Giant Meterwave Radio Telescope (GMRT) exhibition & competition on the occasion of GMRT Science Day 2023. Our country 🇮🇳 celebrates 'Science Day' each year on February 28 in honor of the noted physicist Dr. C.V. Students of B.E. (Electronics & Computer Science) - Semester VIII participated at ISRO Space Exhibition on Exhibition Ground at Veermata Jijabai Technical Institute (VJTI), Matunga on Friday 24th February 2023. Despite the delayed entry into the campus caused by an overwhelming crowd (not to mention the sweltering heat), the group was able to witness some wonderful exhibits such as CUBESat - an indegeniously developed communication satellite (which was practically launched 3 km above the Earth's surface & VIHAAN - a rover with a manipulator robotic arm. Brycen Fernandes caught up with the team from SVKM's Shri Bhagubhai Magatlal Polytechnic, Vile Parle which demonstrated their ATV & gave valuable inputs to them on the technical front. An initiative by Jayen Modi for one of his courses in Robotics (ECC801) for B.E. (Electronics & Computer Science) - Semester VIII, it is both a privilege to have Prof. Martin Saska, Head & Senior Researcher of Multi-robot Systems Group, Institute of Cybernetics, Faculty of Electrical Engineering from Czech Technical University at Prague to give a webinar about 'Ariel Robotics' on Thursday 9th March 2023 at 2 pm IST. This online talk is expected to add value as a 'beyond syllabus activity' to the curriculum of Robotics subject. Interested students are requested to attend. The Google Meet link will be shared next week. Abstract: Using large teams of Micro Aerial Vehicles (MAVs) in real-world (outdoor and indoor) environments without precise external localization or motion capture system is a challenging task. In this talk, I will present the latest results of our endeavor towards fully autonomous compact flocks of MAVs with onboard artificial intelligence, which was achieved by the Multi-robot Systems group at the Czech Technical University in Prague. Stabilization, control, and motion planning techniques for steering swarms and formations of unmanned MAVs will be discussed. I will be talking about using MAVs for indoor documentation of large historical objects (cathedrals) by formations of cooperating MAVs, where one MAV carries a camera and its neighbors carry light sources with the possibility to set a relative angle between the camera axis and the lights as required. A cooperative manipulation of large objects by a pair of MAVs developed for the international MBZIRC competition and inspection of underground mines for the DARPA competition will be presented. And finally, a fully autonomous flying robot, hunting for unauthorized drones will be shown.  (at Fr.
