imagine: 20 years from now the newest It remake, It 2040, has just been announced and the first installment takes place in 2009. georgie gets kidnapped by pennywise after he accidentally drops his nintendo ds into the sewer. all of the losers club members have bowl cuts, including bev, and their wardrobe is strictly band t-shirts. bill's bike, silver, is now a razor scooter. ben has to hide his secret love for the jonas brothers, but bev finds out when she looks through his ipod shuffle. there is an aim group chat montage every fifteen minutes. richie and eddie finally get together, but only because they said "no homo" first

Eddie reaches for the light switch, sending them both into darkness. Or… mostly darkness. The ceiling is alive with the faintly green glow of little plastic stars, hundreds of them, making their own little constellations all across the dark. He stares at them for a moment, a hand pressed to his mouth.

Richie is at his side, one arm going hesitantly around his waist. “I probably fucked the scale up pretty bad, and I kinda started making stuff up over in the corners–”

“Holy shit, Richie. How long have you been doing this?”

“Since I got back from the diner this morning. Do you… do you like it? I know it’s not the same or anything, but…”

“It’s perfect, Richie,” Eddie whispers, turning to kiss him under the artificial starlight, the starlight Richie made for him. He pulls him close, opening his mouth into the kiss, his arms around Richie’s neck. It’s almost like a dance, the way they move as one slow, meandering unit to the bed, and Eddie thinks for a moment about some video he saw in a high school science class once, about the dance of electrons within the atom, the endless loop of energy that makes the world.
