Last night, Auckland Pride met for a Special General Meeting demanded by a small group of coup-makers. This group was upset that the Pride Board asked the Police to acknowledge the violence their institution represents by leaving their uniforms at home. This group attempted to roll the Pride Board, attacked me and PAPA inaccurately, and booed survivors of sexual violence who spoke about their humiliation at the hands of the police. This small group were outnumbered and overruled: Auckland Pride 2019 will go ahead without the Police. We have exercised our collective power over Auckland Pride.
