Zuko: So what’s for dinner?
Sokka: I can’t tell you, it’s a soup-prise!
Zuko: …
Zuko: Is it soup?
Sokka: I soup-pose it could be! *winks*
Zuko: Please, enough with the soup puns!
Sokka: Wow, you’re soup-per mean.
Zuko: STOP!
*one hour later*
Zuko: It’s fucking tacos?!?!?!
This is what I mean when I say 'fixing them' I want to help him help himself, to be a motivation and comfort, to help him and intervene on occasion to keep him on track. Because no it isn't your responsibility to fix anyone, and coming from me, a man with some less than great issues and coping skills, we will not change unless we want to in any capacity because you can only do so much and we can only 'do it for you' so often. But if you love someone I feel it's important to be there for them and to encourage healthier behaviors etc.
I find it kind of funny that Shane is labelled the "i can fix him" romance of sdv but...he really isn't. You, the player, actually do very little in terms of "fixing" him. You watch him have a few breakdowns, and you intervene when he's drunk on the cliffs, but...he's the one who decides to start going to therapy. He's the one who decides to quit drinking. These are not things that you ever encourage him to do. You can headcanon certain interactions all you want, but this isn't like "the player chooses the genre of Elliott's future book." You have no impact on whether or not Shane cleans up his life. You support him at a few key moments, but the desire to change and be better comes from Shane, not the player.
Let us suppose that the "average" horse would have equal proportions of all these parts. The degree to which each part in this poll deviates from the "average" size (20% of total) will determine how large or small that part of our horse will be (i.e a horse with only 10% in Legs will have legs half the size of the average horse).
I will draw a picture of the horse we make!
