HAPPY BIRTHDAY @gribouli <3<3<3 (i was absolutely honored to beta this, GO READ THIS EVERYONE, it is amazing and i am obsessed)
The angel in the front row
Pressed against the stage door crowd, Aziraphale waits, gripping the bouquet. When Crowley finally spots him, his smirk sharpens, eyes gleaming with something private. Fingers brushā too quick to notice, too deliberate to be accidental. A teasing remark, a fleeting wink. Just another fan, just another autograph. Nobody suspects a thing.
And yet, behind closed doors, the act drops, and whispered words turn into stolen kisses.
Small ficlet I wrote for @gribouli 's birthday with art from the astonishing @eybefioro !! Go take a look! š©µ
Huge thanks to @edit-by-riley for their beta and enthusiastic screaming š©µ
Also pspsps @shadesofecclescakes this is the one I told you about š„°

the number one reason Iām still active in the gomens fandom is how much Iāve learnedāand continue to learnāabout the diversity of the human experience from all of you. over the last 5+ years, gomens writers, artists, curators, meta-posters, etc. have helped me understand vastly more facets of identity than I was previously aware existed. and thatās because so much of this fandom has gloriously chosen to interpret two beings who were presented in canon as having no actual gender or sexuality as two beings who can have ANY gender presentation or sexuality, and the resulting works have filled me with joy and often blown my mind big time. itās not that I came into this fandom with deep prejudices, but the simple fact of being exposed to so much incredible art (of all kinds) that takes two characters and turns them into representations for a million different ways of living has had a huge, huge impact on me.
case in point: five years ago, I was a straight, white cis woman living with my fiancĆ©, who was a straight, white cis man. when said fiancĆ© came to me mere months after the pandemic started and said, āhey, maybe Iām a woman, actually,ā I had a basis for understanding how she feltābecause of all of you. today, I live in the same place with the same person, except that now, we both identify as women, and Iāve figured out that Iām bisexual, and we publicly identify as lesbians. (oh, and we got married š„°) throughout the whole process of my partnerās transition, Iāve been able to see and read these beautiful interpretations of what queer love can look likeāand NONE of it came from the source material. it came from YOU. and Iām so grateful.
so anyway. thatās why Iām still here, despite the fact that one of the creators is the worst piece of shit. the world of good omens may have started with him, but itās not his. we still have so much to teach each other, and if we can do that using a familiar framework without perpetuating real harm (like knowingly giving that fucker a single red cent), more power to us.
support the victims. take care of yourselves and each other. and fuck that guy. ā¤ļø

Final version of their St James Park bench

Now including some of the scribbles and little tokens of fandom love because those make the bench what it is

I might craft a few more miniatures before I move onto other projects, because they are just so much fun! (Sans the arsing with the glue gun.)

I think weāre nearing the end of a Golden Era. After the finale of Good Omens is released, weāre going to be on a different footing. It will wrapped, it will be complete. We will have a whole story.
Thus far weāve been able to hope, fear, speculate and dreamāthose opportunities will change dramatically after the finale is released.
Iām feeling all kinds of ways about thatāitās been a heck of a ride. āRoller coasterā doesnāt do it justice. Despite the cracks and schisms that have appeared, the fandom remains a fairly friendly and wholesome place. Iām not a huge capital-F Fan; Iām not always obsessed with a story or a show (though Iām usually obsessed with something, be it crochet or raku). Iām not generally up on production schedules and donāt usually read about actors.
However, Iāve been in a few fandoms over the centuries, and Iāve seen them get much more toxic than this one is even now. Iām so grateful. Yāall are a fabulous crowd of angels and demons.
My deal is that I was pretty sure I was going to be disappointed with S3 from the beginning. The characters took root in my mind and, well, theyāre mine now, the same way theyāre yours, and, little by little, my head-canons have become real to me. This is normal for meāI figured Iād have to watch the whole thing a few times and see if my internal convictions would conform to whatever solution was offered to me. I donāt think Iāve ever gone from this point of the evolution of a story to the end without disappointment. That part hasnāt changed.
Because characters like Aziraphale and Crowley turn real, rather like the Velveteen Rabbit. They enter the company of mythological beings, along with King Arthur and Sherlock Holmes and Finn McCool, and there they will stay, an amalgam of thousands upon thousands of images of them in thousands upon thousands of minds. I love this for them.
But the finale will bring a sea-change, and weāll be in a new era where all that goes forward is the mythologyāand that will be a new jumping-off-point, but also the last foreseeable jumping off point we will have as a group. (A group of the thousands of us.)
I just want to say that Iām very glad to have been here in the Bentley for the ride through hellfire and tartan hills, and Iāll be here for at least a while longer, enjoying the view of the new countryside.
Heigh-ho, said Anthony Crowley.

posting my first fic on AO3 was a bit nerve-racking for me, but i already received so many lovely comments that made it all worth it. only to get on tumblr and see that a lovely human has RECOMMENDED it?? @addledmongoose thank you so much for that, i am incredibly honored!!<3

Good Omens Fanfic Friday (10 Jan 2025)
These first two stories are by new, first time posters to AO3! Go show them some kudo and comment love!
The Gift (574 words; Rated G)
It's Christmas, and Crowley has a gift for Aziraphale. There's some absolutely precious photo art in here created with the author's felt Aziracrow dolls.
***
Antics and First Editions (7.7K; Rated NR (but probably G or T) by @edit-by-riley
While Aziraphale is in Heaven, Crowley has been wreaking havoc across London in a desperate bid for the Supreme Archangel's attention.
***
Pax In Terris (117K; Rated T)
Part 2 of The Book of Muriel. I recommended the previous work last week. It's Christmas, three years after Aziraphale took the Supreme Archangel position, and Muriel has learned a lot living on Earth. Their friendship with Crowley is strong, and they've learned to love Earth almost as much as the Ineffables.
Now the Supreme Archangel needs their help to stop the end of the world, preferably without letting a certain demon in on the plan. Part of the story is told from Muriel's POV; other parts are focused on Aziraphale and Crowley. There's a stunning chapter nearer to the end that alternates a longer 1941 with scenes that happened throughout their history.
This is a middle book, though you probably could start here without reading the first one. Things aren't quite right yet with Aziraphale and Crowley, but they're getting there. You don't need to wait on the third book to start this one, though.
#i cant handle compliments#but this made my day#nevermind#it made my entire WEEK#good omens fanfiction#fanfic friday#ao3 writer

Thanks for the tags @gaiaseyes451 and @beerok23!š!š
last song: Gloria by the Lumineers
favourite colour: Red, like a deep luscious red that you know would taste good if you licked it. Don't act innocent, you know exactly what I mean by that. Red is a color that you just know tastes good.
last book: I am currently trying to read the Witcher series (per @lickthecowhappy's suggestion) so I am at the start of the Last Wish
last movie: Moana 2 (I have young kidsssss)
last TV show: My oldest is almost 10 which means she stays up late. Which also means I have so little time to watch adult things. So we've been watching the Office with her. I think I want to watch the Good Place with her next tho (I've never watched it!)
sweet/spicy/savoury: Sweet followed very, very closely by spicy. Habanero maple syrup is one of my favorite things on the planet.
last thing i searched online: How to explain a 10 year career hiatus in a cover letter (looking to return to work since having kids. It's been an interesting experience so far).
current obsession: Have not moved on from Good Omens, but recently realized that my obsession may be more in my own little connected universe of fics that I wrote rather than the actual canon at this pointš³. I'm sure once we get that first glimpse of red and white hair that will change very quickly.
looking forward to: Going back to work and having a more established adult life again, honestly. I've been so lucky to be home with my kids while they are young, but I am ready. And figuring out how my newfound passion for writing is going to fit into that new life of mine. Another big year of change over here for me, and I am eagerly looking forward to how the growing pains are going to make way for something beautiful beyond.
ten people iād like to know better:
@addledmongoose, @di-42, @afrenchwriter, @haemey, @eybefioro, @alwaystuesday, @katspause, @alphacentaurinebula, @shadesofecclescakes, @ochre-sunflower and whoever wants to do it (but also feel free to ignore!)

Reference to the Final 15 in the one below the cut!
Hello again, I'm back at it after a little holiday break. The weather was glorious, I got to see family I hadn't seen for 20 years (or in the case of the kids, meeting then for the very first time!), relaxed in the most gorgeous locations... and then I flew back to the UK and got ill from the flight. However! I'm feeling much better, so here's some memes, fresh off the press. Oh, and do forgive the self-indulgence of including my own comment from a discord post, but as soon as I wrote it I thought of Aziraphale
Thanks so much to @katspause for suggesting the text post for no.2, and @sakascal for finding the text post in the hopefully funny one below the cut (warning: contains Final 15!)

i love finding fun facts while researching for fic-writing!!
The real significance of Crowley's name:
I don't know why I never thought of this before, but I did now.
In the Hebrew translation of Good Omens, Aziraphale is spelled as ×××רפ××, and Crowley as קר××××. Someone who didn't know about Good Omens or how to pronounce Crowley's name would probably pronounce it as קר×× ××, (Kar-ooh-lee). I know I instinctively did as a native Hebrew speaker, and I know how it's supposed to be pronounced! But that's not important. What's important is what it means.
The phrase קר×× ×× means "they called me." This is often used when referring to what one's name was, for example, when introducing oneself, one uses the present tense ק×ר××× ××. But קר×× ×× is past tense. In context, it can also mean "they called for me," as in being summoned. Both of these meanings apply to Crowley. One of Crowley's main characteristic is his shifting of names. He was called by many names, Crawly, Anthony, whatever name he had before the fall.... Crowley was also called for. Crowley was always being given orders, always being summoned.
What's even more interesting is the way Crawly is spelled in Hebrew. It's spelled קר×××, and, such as before, can be pronounced as ק×Ø× ×× (Kra-Lee). This change in spelling and pronunciation transforms the phrase into a command: "Call (male) me." Who could Crowley be asking to call him? After his Fall, he would be bitter, begging for anyone to call his name, perhaps his angelic name. Time passed, and he gave up, changing his name to past tense.
Another interesting point is that in changing his name in Hebrew, Crowley is only adding on letter, a '×' (Vav). Adding a letter to one's name is significant in Biblical sense, but especially adding a letter that is a part of God's Holy Name, ×-×-×-× (Yud, Hey, Vav, Hey). This is symbolic of a person's intrinsic connection to God. The best example is Abraham and Sarah, whose names were changed from Abram and Sarai.
Now we're going to get even more spiritual.
It is said that each letter in the Holy Name of God represents a different approaches to God. The '×' in it's shape is not grounded. It is consumed entirely by the the Heavenly world, without any connection to Earth. The '×' in its shape shrouds a grounded marking. The grounded being is unable to reach up, and its purpose is entrenched solely on Earth. What's special about the '×' is that it is a connector. It is a literal line connecting the top and the bottom. It channels the spirituality of the Heavens to the Earth, and the ingenuity of the Earth to the Heavens.
Crowley is a '×.' In being a Fallen Angel, he brought a piece of Heaven down to Earth. This was his purpose. He would ultimately channel the two worlds, which he and Aziraphale did in adverting the Apocalypse.
Whether he knew it or not, in adding the one tiny '×' to his name, Crowley was accepting his role as the connector, the bridge. He never knew what they called him, or what they called him for, but he was destined to connect two realms. That's how Crowley is special. He's not quite an Angel, not quite a Demon, and has the imagination of a human.
