Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are educational institutes of national importance set up by the Indian government. They try to clear the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) to gain a seat into one of their undergraduate programs. This exam is quite tough- in fact it is one of the world’s toughest entrance exams. So, many centers have emerged to offer IIT JEE coaching in Bangalore, New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and other prominent places. The competition is high. Over 2.5 lakh students sat for 2016 IIT-JEE exam for filling less than 5,000 seats.
Some other institutes other than the IITs also select their candidates based on the IIT-JEE. These include IIIT, Allahabad; Marine Engineering and Research Institute, Kolkata; the Institute of Technology; Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi; the Indian School of Mines, Dhan-bad; IIITM, Gwalior; and TS Chanakya, Mumbai.

There are three separate parts (viz., Maths, Chemistry and Physics) in each of these question papers, and all the questions under these sections are of objective type. You can choose whether you want to appear for the exam in Hindi or English while filling the application form for the IIT JEE exam.
Eligibility for the IIT JEE Exam

For disabled candidates and candidates from SC/ST sections are assigned a lower minimum qualifying grade which one can check at the website of the respective IITs (given in the later part of this article). You cannot attempt the JEE exam more than twice, and that too, you have to do it in consecutive years.
