So this blog kinda went on an unprompted hiatus... My dash has been a ghost town for well over a year and that gets discouraging after a while so I stepped away, did some other stuff, and now there's going to be like two weeks of blog maintenance here. Because I miss Pride, A LOT, I put a lot of work and love into this kid so he will be coming back...just I have a bunch of other stuff also happening this month so it's going to be a little slow moving. But we'll get there!

He didn't argue or try to get an answer again, not when Envy was keeping his voice down and still walking quickly. It still felt like a yes, that they way they had to move was because of Pride. Always go out with cover, always stay away from the humans especially in large groups, stay close to home. All of those rules were supposed to keep him safe and he was very careful to be sure he followed them.

No one was supposed to see him, no one was supposed to notice him. Pride knew that was why he just didn't understand why, but he followed the rules Envy gave him. Because he was supposed to, because they would keep him safe when he went outside. Only now they were hurrying past groups of humans, large ones. He was so used to sticking to empty streets or settlign far away to watch and not be found that his head felt crowded and the air felt full, and buzzing, and his skin didn't like the touch of strangers brushing passed him.

The hood of his jacket was pulled up quickly and tugged down low to hang over his eyes. It felt funny wearing the shoes - rainboots...they were good for when the river flooded - he wasn't sure if he liked them much but at least they didn't tie. He couldn't shapeshift like Envy, he had to hide and blend in other ways. The shorts were comfortable, and the shirt too big for him just like the jacket but he got to pick it out himself.

He nodded at the assurance and kept himself pressed against Envy, head down but peeking out from under the hood now and then to try and run into as few people as possible. Keep up, keep hidden, stay close. Pride was good at that.

His hold on the younger sin tightened as Envy weaved a path through the crowd, easily slipping between some groups and shoving others aside when necessary, all the while keeping Pride tucked beneath one arm as they hurried down the street. A few people cursed when they pushed by, but he didn't so much as acknowledge them.

"Put your hood back on." Rather than answer the blonde's question, Envy instead muttered the order down to Pride and quickened their pace.

Of course taking Pride out of Central wasn't going to be easy, not through normal methods. Not when the blonde had certain 'features' that might make people do a double take if recognized. Envy wanted to curse himself for the idea-- but Pride had looked so happy when they first mentioned bringing him along; why shouldn't he get the full experience? "Just.. Keep up, yeah?" He said in a softer tone, "We'll be at the station soon."

“No, he’s.. He isn’t angry.” That much still surprised him. He expected their conversation to take much longer than it actually had, anticipating that the elder would either scold him or outright forbid the idea. Instead, Father simply responded with ‘Pride is in your care. Do as you will.’ before dismissing the sin. It was both approval and a warning. Father’s message was clear;

’Whatever happens, the responsibility is yours.’

“He’s left it up to me.” If they messed this up somehow… No. Failure was not an option. Envy did his best to ignore where that trail of thought might lead and focused instead on the blonde. “I’ll be taking you out of Central.” 

If it was possibly for his eyes to widen much more, they would have, surprise clear on his face when usually so calm and neutral. Father siad it was up to Envy to decide if Pride could leave Central. Envy got to choose...and he said it was okay. He was saying yes, yes they could go somewhere else. Even if it was only for a little while.

The smile couldn’t be held back, pride closing the space between them and making a happy, higher pitched sound with his excitement as he hugged Envy tightly. A few chimera lifted their heads at it before dismissing the noise as unimportant and resuming whatever they were doing before. He was relieved Father wasn’t angry. He was happy that it was going to be okay. He was excited to see new things. When he lifted his head to look at the older sin, Pride was smiling brightly, “...........thank you, Envy!.......will be good.......whole time......I promise!” even if it was only for a day, only a few hours, he would be happy with it. That would be enough.

Pride looked up from the chimera he was checking on, it was new and was acting nervous the other day, as soon as he heard Envy and inclined his head slightly in question. They did? He blinked and nodded, looking back at the chimera he was petting and calming back down again. Another one was leaning on his back, the scales scraping along his skin as it moved to twist and watch what he was doing. They didn’t always seem as fond of his siblings, maybe because they didn’t come up and visit as much.

Once he was sure the chimera would be alright again, he untangled himself from the gathered beasts surrounding him. Envy was crossed over to quickly, Pride looking up at him and tilting his head, “……………talk?”
