Why do we say that capitalism must be “dismantled”?

You’ll hear phrases like “Smash the state!” “Eat the rich!” and “Smash capitalism!”

And, yes, of course, but… :)

However relevant those sayings are, our work must be careful, highly organized and above all planned.

Because capitalism and all of its associated systems are not discrete, abstracted entities we can attack independently.

It is a structure, like a complicated machine with many thousands of working parts…

And right now it is connected to absolutely everything.

If we do this… [picks up huge hammer and smashes the machine]

Then a lot of vulnerable people will die.

The machine was built and improved and redesigned and patched over the course of generations. It is very good at its intended purpose, which is ultimately to generate profit.

Every human being alive today relies on the byproducts of the machine to survive, without exception.

The machine’s engineers want it to keep working like it does. In fact, they want to optimise it.

That will kill all remaining life on Earth.

So, we must destroy the machine, quickly and carefully

We must examine its deadly programs and mechanics and replace them with alternatives we built together.

The engineers don’t want us tampering with the machine.

However, we make it run…

So we can make it STOP. Together.

an inverse au where madoka is instead obsessed with homura can make so much sense when you take into consideration madoka feeling like she's useless and powerless and won't amount to anything, whilst being a magical girl seems to be enough to cure her of this complex, saving homura (specifically moemura) and having her see her as the inverse of all of that.. i think that even though she would already sacrifice so much for homura, it would only serve for her to want to continue being someone who's has the ability to save her. she's not helpless, or in the way, she can save homura.

this isn't really that much of an au to me, just a reminder of how little everyone takes madoka's character in consideration. i find it really interesting how in the beginning, madoka constantly talks of feeling useless and like she isn't good at anything and can't amount to anything - while being a really good parallel to how homura felt, she even asks mami if it's enough to wish to become a magical girl, because being a magical girl alone would make her wish come true already, while she's woefully unaware of previous timelines and how much homura already thinks of her as all she thinks she isn't.. im getting so off track.

continuing to get more off track, oh my god. going back to that thing i said about madoka's feelings about being useless paralleling homura, that while homura regards madoka as someone selfless who goes out of her way to help people, even small animals, a shining light who specifically saved her.. but while in her constant effort to be the one who protects madoka instead and continuously failing at it... madoka at the beginning of the series still thinks of herself as useless. it's just a neat parallel. she really has no idea how much she means to the people around her, and the lives she's helped throughout the timelines.
