Super Mario Bros. Wonder contains an early model of the Bubble Flower that is just a skin for the Fire Flower object, as opposed to being its own dedicated object (which refers to none of the assets of the Fire Flower and uses its own files).
Note that the models, despite being two different objects in the finished game, still have identical geometry, and the only differences are the colors of the head and the orientation of a gradient on the stem.

Officially licensed 1995 Yoshi's Island capsule machine figurine of Kamek, from Japan. Note the stylized shape whereby Kamek has been made to look more conical that usual.

In the 1980s, the Japanese Famitsu magazine would feature custom-drawn comics illustrating various glitches in video games. Here is a detailed comic showing the "backwards-walking Koopa Troopa" glitch in Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels, as well as footage of the glitch itself for comparison.

Concept art for an unused boss design for Super Mario RPG, shared by the game's visual effects artist Jiro Mifune.
According to Mifune's comments, the artwork depicts "J.O. the Grim Reaper", who was supposed to be the "ruler of Ghost Town" and the "boss of the Boos and their friends". No location called Ghost Town exists in the finished game, though Monstro Town does have some ghosts as its inhabitants.

Top: previously, I had posted about a bizarre Wing Mario plush without a nose that I posited could have been an unauthorized reproduction of an officially licensed 1997 plush.
Bottom: it was discovered that this plush was actually a prototype of the official plush, and other versions of the prototype were found, including this one with its nose intact. As such, there are two possibilities: either that the nose was attached to the prototype and fell off at some point due to being very poorly attached, or that this prototype was never made with a nose to begin with as it was supposed to only be a proof of concept for the main body.
Either way, the noseless Mario is suprisingly official.
