The charity gets the money funded by the event. The 2.50 USD goes to the charity if you buy it.

Kill ANY boss in any venue on a cold start. Grind in lvl 25 venues hitless, forever. Yes, it works in any venue and any boss. Yes, it slots perfectly into a team of 133 STR general grinders. Yes, it costs less than 45g to build. No, you don't need another eliminate.
