you know at the start of the season we were all commenting about how grian would rather be fishing right now. but the key difference between grian and etho is that grian simply complains that he would rather be fishing. etho vanishes for months, letting his friends and loved ones wonder if he's perished, his job without him, his ravagers starving, his home slowly decaying, and us with no videos, having left behind only a vague message: gone fishing.
anyway congrats etho on number one at mcci fishing,

I'm about an hour into Grian's server tour & we've seen Ren, Tango, Cleo, Scar, & just finished Joe Hills & holy fuck. Holy shit. This guy is fucking wild. He's describing how he used an actual architectural survey to map out his base & I am just. What the fuck man. My fiance says, "Joe Hills is just built different." Incredulously, I agree. "Actual fucking cryptid man."
(Also I love how most of this is just to have a space for the hermits to build all the weird shit their hearts desire without having to worry about fitting the aesthetics into their bases. It's legit the sweetest fucking thing. I just fucking love it so much.)
#thats the joe hills difference#he actually builds a lot of his bases to scale or like the one from a d&d game#his videos are fantastic and his lives are wild

Love love love watching Pearl, Etho, and Tango talk game balancing and rule clarification. Pearl sees games as a skill to master, and her perspective is concentrated towards what feels both achievable and fair, throughout a journey from beginner to pro. Etho sees games as a puzzle to solve, a system to optimise, and his concerns about game balancing focus on where the loopholes are or what could be exploited in a way that produces skewed results. Tango's role is creating and running a game that is engaging, so he curtails pure 'game design' suggestions by asking if something is going to be fun, for the players of all levels and the viewers, too. In conversations between them, the points they raise are how they show their personal investment in their game and its players. I think that's neat

I think that Season 10 and especially the Doc v. Cleo trial really epitomizes what I mean when I say that Hermitcraft operates on Wonderland/Feywild logic, where everything is orderly but so nonsensical. There are no laws but you can sue people for whatever you want. The courtroom is explicitly a TV court and the judge makes desicions by flipping a coin, and punishments are decided by whatever is funniest. You MUST address the judge as "Your Highness" instead of "Your Honor." If you want a permit to sell something you have to complete a bunch of nonsense impossible tasks like you're making a deal with a fairy. The only law enforcement does not have the power to enforce any laws and mostly just stands around in slutty outfits. The governmental system is a bunch of people "yes and"ing each other and everyone will complain about the bureaucracy but also begrudgingly follow all of the rules, sometimes with malicious compliance. Your lawyer is a muppet.

One of the funniest things to me from the court case is them committing to the bit of this being a serious court case with decorum with calling Doc "Mr. M77" on occasion and then once or twice Bdubs says "Mr. Hills, "and it's not even a bit that's just his legal name lol
