       He felt the muscles layered on his back ache from being still for so long. But the book in his hands felt exceptionally light considering the content. ( The phenomenon at a nanoscopic scale, otherwise known as Quantum Physics. How matter behaved at the molecular level. ) The information rose easily to the forefront of his mind, occupying the space where his memories usually whirled consistently, irritating his otherwise immaculate mind.          Early twenties. Sandy hair. And his fingers tap absently on the yellow pad of paper sitting upon his knee, observing the girl with the heavy glock pistol strapped to her hip. It looked odd on her, just as his used to look on him. ( Opted for a revolver during everyday field work. Efficient, reliable and it fit him. ) But this was his family. And those who found themselves among the Unit were subject to profiling, at the mercy of discussion. But all he had was a name. ( Kadence Richards. Kadence, latin variant of Cadence. Meaning 'with rhythm'. ) A name was just a name, he thought. Though, he had nothing else. 

           ❝ You know, it's not everyday we get someone new. In fact, it's kinda strange that not even Hotch was notified before hand. I guess that makes you special. ❞

( ઇଓ ) headcanon - 001

     Reid feels an overwhelming need to help others. Stemming from having to look after his mother ( a diagnosed schizophrenic ) for most of his young and adult life. He was tasked with the job of making sure his mother was taken care of when his father abandoned them. Stating that he "didn't know how to be a father" to Spencer and that he believed he couldn't help his mother any longer. This abandonment left Reid especially alone, seeing as his mother couldn't communicate well with him. Although, both were geniuses, it was evident that Diana could not manage through the schizophrenia to communicate efficiently with her son. And so, making sure she was well taken care of became his way of showing her that he still cared and that he was still there for her. And this transfers into life with out her.

     Not only does he feel the need to help but also protect. And to protect those who cannot protect themselves. It is one of the things that has made him a most excellent FBI agent. He cares about those he is trying to protect, trying to help. And I believe this is what Gideon saw in him when he first started with the BAU. Because of his mild austim and a case of Asperger's Syndrom, it is sometimes very hard for Spencer to communicate emotions. Especially compassion. So, showing a need to protect and help became his way of telling those he loved and those he knew could not protect themselves that he cares.
