How is that martingale for the sims 4 coming along? I hope you're not overworking yourself. Please take care! <3

hallo! so the story with the martingale is that because i used bones in both the 'head' rig and 'body' rig (including reins), it's more complicated than just adding it as a bridle or a saddle. i'm hoping that i'll be able to figure it out when morphmaker updates as i understand that its the go-to for rig stuff (it will be a while until it updates as i understand the person who makes it is currently dealing with some health issues which is ofc far more important than anything going on here)

short answer: it won't be implementable for a while, but i haven't given up on the idea :D

English Breastplates

A set of two simple english breastplates/breastcollars, one with sheepskin and one without.

Details:

Two new meshes, all LODs

6 leather colours, each with gold or silver details and white or black sheepskin

Designed to fit EA's english saddle

Found under Accessories > Hats (can be used with leg wraps!)

For adult-elder horses

Requires Horse Ranch DLC

Issues:

...the bad news is that the weight painting isn't perfect. The breastplate clips into the horse/deforms weirdly in some poses, especially poses where the horses head is down low. The position of the breastplate crosses from the neck down to the shoulder and chest, and it's hard to make the mesh move nicely with all these parts on both sides 😭.

This is a good as I can get, but it looks okay with 90% of in game animations, and most English-style/jumping poses.

UPDATE 28/08:

Apologies for giving all the ponies haircuts - I've updated the mesh to NOT remove the forelock when equipped. Please re-download if you don't want bald horses 💀

Known Issues:

There's only one set of reins in game, and the attach to the side of the nose. Use an invisible rein mod to take good pictures!

New Functional Jumps

I didn't think I would be able to finish this today, but I did! My first build/buy item!

Two functional jumps, and one "sugarcube" jump. I'm going away on vacation for about a week, but when I get back I intend to make the jump post and the "sugarcubes" into decorative items that you can put around your arena.

Quick news on the possibility of the showjumping mod:

So I'm testing weights using the jumping animation for the tiddycollar (i forgot to weight paint it) and i'm only after twigging this:

The jumping animation ends with a halt. It ends w the horse stopping. This means that any decent showjumping mod (anything more than just replacing the dog agility course stuff w horses & jumps) will require animation edits.

The animations r easily fixable. Chop the end off and line it up with how the canter/trot animations line up together.

It's just tedious.

Made specifically to fit my halter - you will find the halter included in this post! This will not work with EA bridles. (For those who have already downloaded the halter, you don't need to download it again).

Here's some accessories for the halter I uploaded earlier. It features fluff, nameplate and leadrope. There's a clean swatch and a swatch with Simlish on it for the nameplate, so you can add your own horse's name if you wish to recolour it!

The leadrope has some clipping and stretching issues.

A simple good old fashioned halter, comes with 18 different swatches. I've some ideas about variations for this halter in the future so stay tuned.

Also the reins doesn't really attach properly on this if you attempt to ride with it.

(just the front where they attach to the bit not the way they sit at the back...yet >:D)

(i tied the reins bone set to the corners of the lip, previously they were tied directly to the head. the lip corners themselves r also tied directly to the head, so it's just an extra chain link)

if i can put this edited rig into the game then i can do a proper rein attachment fix

i also realised that the folks that dabble in the likes of WW have been adding bones to sim rigs for a long, long time so i shall be going diving to see how they do their stuff, which means that there might b things like martingales on the horizon!

i also came across some interesting bones that seem to be where the sim attaches to the horse (big news for stirrups)

lets take this win for now, i'll figure out how to implement the rig in the game and then i'll take the time do do a proper placement and upload it
