like. listen to me. it's 1984 and you move to a different state for a better future with your teenage son and he's coming home first morning after you've moved there and he's beaten and you panic and he says it's nothing but it keeps happening and he's so sad and frustrated and angry and tired and you're worried but you don't know what he needs from you to help him, how he needs you to help him you don't understand and you feel a little helpless and disappointed but you wanna get through whatever it is together but he's not telling you and there's this boy, this rich and strong boy and his friends who are all highly skilled karate students and they bully your son and i'm not really sure you know what's going on because he's still not really telling you and then suddenly you're at a karate tournament cheering for your son and being oh so worried and and you see some tricky things going on there and then the boy's friend hurts your son really bad and then the boy hurts him even more but your son ends up winning and you see a moment of peace and appreciation and truce between them and then maybe he tells you all that has been going on that school year maybe when he's older and you get older and he gets older too and he's married and then the boy is back but he's older now too and he's causing problems to your son again and your son is frustrated and tired and angry again like when he was a teenager and he knows how you feel about that boy who is now a man and oh man those feelings are anything but good, as they should be, he's your son and suddenly you find out they're getting along and he's at your son's house and there's tension there and you have so much to say to him, so much after so many years, that's the boy who is now a man who made your then teenage son's senior year miserable and terrifying and you end up saying nothing. and he says nothing to you too.
