Kim’s Dragons……thoughts on a friend’s book What can I say beyond, Besides the oft repeated chorus True but not enough These last days Spent wandering down halls Hallowed, drinking in the beauty The exquisite phrases Words borne of grief, pain and joy At the altar of the purity of your pen I have been laid bare, humbled And have seen the pain hidden gallantly Behind a lovely smile I have seen the person inside the words And the life honored by your thoughts Have fallen in love with pages The dragons are waiting Six or seven at least What can I say beyond, besides…….klp

You come to me
Now and then
In the quiet of midnight
Memories appear one by one
Soft whispers
Like leaves drifting in autumn winds
They breach walls built
Painfully brick by brick
Like a fever in the night
Secret desires burn and fade
As sleep slowly creeps in
Until once again
You come to me
In the quiet of midnight
And so it goes……klp

You were a beautiful bird
Without wings
Yet
You flew away
Into a future
Unknown
You were incandescent
Silver and blue
Shining in sunlight
Breathtaking
Your song so sweet
It mended a heart
Broken by living
Do you remember
My beautiful bird
Carried away by winds
You flew
Into another life
And took with you
The magic of lightness
You were a beautiful bird
And with you
I was beautiful too......10/1/2020 klp

Thoughts on my Mother’s death
The endless days
A river of darkness
And I am so tired
Dark seduces and drains
Until the shell of grief
Becomes, once again,
A mirror reflecting
Endless days and
Darkness....klp
Where did you go
Life escaped
And you were gone
My love followed you there
Into the mystery
Of death…..klp
I will remember
Always
Did I do enough
Did you know
I loved you
Appreciated
All you did
The strength
You gave me
the love…….klp

You were so beautiful
I could hardly breathe
In your eyes flowed an ocean
I drowned in depths
Turquoise and sad
Lightning struck
Thunder rolled and
I lost the battle for my soul
Naked and alone
I cried for salvation
But you took my breath
My life yours
Stolen against my will
I stumbled and fell
A free fall into love
You were so beautiful…klp

The river is singing
The world is gone
Hidden in mist
Angels whisper
Of the past
The trees are singing
The news is bad
Falling gently
Leaves whisper
Of what is to come
Humanity is singing
It is all they have
Blowing softly
Winds whisper
We must carry on
The river is singing
Telling us to hide
It all looks grim
But the river is singing
Singing a prayer
Teaching us of hope….klp

I want to sing your song
But I don’t know the words
And the music is gone
I want to sing to
Take your cares away
The price for living
Is memories
Memories that slip and slide
Like dreams I can’t find
And the missing words
From my song to you
The hidden thoughts that rhyme
The memories that are mine
Are hiding and
I want to write your song
But the music is gone
And I can no longer find the words……Klp 1/2022

smoke
Like smoke on a windy day
You disappeared
I can barely remember
Your smile,
The sound of your voice
But the feelings
The loss, they remain
Where does smoke go
When it has nothing to lose
Are you still
You
Do you remember or
Have I
Disappeared like smoke
On a windy day ......klp

Who we are
The lies of the future The lies of the past  Make us All the truths of our lives  All the lies of our lives  Intertwine To make us The infinite knot of ourselves  The labyrinth of who we are  The darkness and the light  Love and hate We are a dream That exists in the matrix The end and the beginning Of ourselves........Klp 7/2020

We took a drive through Montana today.  From Gardiner to Bozeman.  It was beautiful. It was peaceful and exhilarating. Did I say it was beautiful? It was more than that.  If you have not been there, and can, do. The intangible rewards are worth it.

unease
I am frightened and in awe of the darkness and hate that is spreading across our country. I don’t understand how we can be so unkind to each other when it is so much easier, and infinitely better, to just be kind, to be understanding and interested.  To accept each other, to accept that, while we are different in some ways, we are very alike in others. We should be able to revel in and enjoy our differences. Our origins have commonality. Each day I awake with hope, each day it seems only brings disappointment in what is going on around us.  Thank God for family and friends who keep us grounded and sane. I hope in the end that will be enough.
