WHY DOES NO ONE TALK ABOUT THE LORE IMPLICATIONS WHEN IT COMES TO BEING A CERTAIN SPECIES IN SPLATOON???

okay, so,,, let me set this up real quick, because i CAN'T be the only one freaking out about this

in Splatoon 1, we're agent 3 regardless of what style we pick starting out

Splatoon 2 comes around and we're a new agent, agent 4, so we're no longer the same person,,, but then 2018 hits us like a fucking BOMB and we get to play as an octoling (which has its own lore implications, but i won't dwell on that just yet)

after completing Splatoon 2's Octo Expansion, when we greet Marina and Pearl, they kindly wave at us—much like how Callie and Marie greet agent 3 once story mode is completed!

Splatoon 3 is released and we're dubbed neo agent 3, ALSO a different person, but this seems to be dependent on whether you're an inkling or not,,, it's as though playing as an inkling through the series makes you a different person all throughout

MINOR SIDE ORDER SPOILERS

Side Order is released and after completion, Marina and Pearl greet you VERY kindly if you're an octoling, if you aren't, you get Pearl's watered-down death stare and they carry on with their conversation

LITERALLY, what does this mean??? and even in tableturf, Pearl, Marina, and Acht comment about how oddly similar you are to Eight and they say this regardless of your species,,, which,,, WHY??? is this because of the memverse? is this hinting at neo 3 sharing a relationship with these characters? or is this a mistake and was supposed to be a reference to the three recognizing you as agent 8??? ughhh, the lore is so confusing and don't even get me started on what's going on with agent 4,,,
