Originality makes something better and more sensible
Originality is very important. There are times that our work is taken by another person without giving recognition to whom it really is.
Intellectual Property refers to creations of the mind, such as inventions, literary and artistic works, designs, symbols, names, and images used in commerce. (Source: http://www.wipo.int/about-ip/en/)
There are different intellectual properties that we should know that will help us to play safe in every situation.
*Copyright
*Patent
*Trademarks
*Industrial Design
*Geographical Design
An intellectual property is protected by law in order for an individual to give credit to an author or the creator of one's work. To help us learn how to give a person recognition to the effort that he or she exerted to have an amazing result of his/her work. Nowadays, it ain't easy to have an outcome with legitimate originality most especially everything is one click away from the internet.
An intellectual property protect the rights of inventors, scientists, and artists by applying it for a patent, trademark, or copyright, which would penalize and punish those who will try to steal or imitate a certain invention or concept. (Source: https://brainly.ph/question/787776) Everything should be protected from being copied without any permission. For me, it is really important because I might feel bad when someone stole my idea without even asking if they can use it or not. I am the one who exerts effort to have that result and it will just be taken from me without a notice.
Plagiarism is one of the known acts that is considered as a violation of the Intellectual Property. That article or piece is owned by someone and it is just that we need to state where the source came from. To give back the time and effort of the maker of that article. As a teenager, sometimes we plagiarize from the quotations we find attractive, lyrics that we can relate to, and many more. An an individual, we forgot how to cite sources and stuff that is why to have a lesson learned there is a violation that a person can be punished because of Plagiarism and other activities that can violate the rules of Intellectual Property.
Since intellectual property is protected, there is a law for this. Republic Act No. 8293 "An Act Prescribing the Intellectual Property Code and Establishing the Intellectual Property Office, Providing for Its Powers and Functions, and for Other Purposes" or known as Intellectual Property Code. (Source:https://brainly.ph/question/1689179)
Below is the list of agencies in-charge of implementing the Intellectual Property Code:
• Bureau of Patents.
• Bureau of Trademarks.
• Bureau of Legal Affairs.
• Documentation, Information and Technology Transfer Bureau.
• Management Information System and EDP Bureau.
• Administrative, Financial and Personnel Services Bureau.
There are still works that are not protected by copyright. To know more about it:
Copyright law protects the expression of facts and ideas, not the ideas and facts themselves. Works that have not been fixed to a tangible medium are just ideas. Ideas are fair game for everyone to express in their own words. (Source: https://brainly.ph/question/1859108)
A copyright gives certain exclusive rights to the people who create original works in the field of literary, dramatic, musical, artistic and many more intellectual works. This copyright protection is available to published works and even unpublished ones. (Source: https://brainly.ph/question/1000342)
A derivative work is a new, original product that includes aspects of a preexisting, already copyrighted work. Also known as a "new version," derivative works can include musical arrangements, motion pictures, art reproductions, sound recordings or translations. (Source: https://www.legalzoom.com/articles/what-are-derivative-works-under-copyright-law)
Originality is the aspect of created or invented works.
Your IP rights are important because they can: set your business apart from competitors. be sold or licensed, providing an important revenue stream. (Source: https://www.nibusinessinfo.co.uk/content/importance-protecting-intellectual-property)
As a student, it is permitted to use another individual's work as long as it is still not for profit. For example, it is for academic purposes. Teachers and/or faculty members are protected from being punished since there is an agreement between these stuff. I suggest to read the copyright information first because there are some creators who doesn't permit us to use their works.

This ends my fourth blog. I hope you learned something new again. See you on my next one!

*Note: The picture may not be as catchy as it needs to be, sorry*
*Note: The owner ain't into drawing.*
The photo represents the draft of the logo of the owner's future business. We were asked to draw what might be the logo of our shops with the symbols itself. The meanings behind the logo are as follows:
1.) The Princess: That represents the owner and who the target audience of the shop. Shopping at a time may help you get fancy and increase your confidence and you'll be able to imagine that you're really a princess.
2.)The Crown: The owner wants that as an individual sees a crown it must be on his/her mind that it's Elaine Gonna Reign. Elaine Gonna Reign = Crown. A crown signifies reigning of one's individual.
3.) The Shops Name: Elaine Gonna Reign is the name of the shop. It is from the owner's first name and how she views herself that there would be a time that she'll reign. Every girl's dream is to be a princess or to standout and be different. They may use it and substitute their names plus Gonna Reign (e.g. Pauline Gonna Reign)
4.) The TagLine: "It's time to treat yourself!" which attracts most of the girls thatdrop what you're doing, it's time to treat yourself. No matter how stressful the day might went there would always be a time for shopping. After the long run a shopper might think, it's about time to treat herself.
5.) The Shoes, Bags, Cosmetics, Pearls, and Fancy Dress of the Princess: These symbolizes what the shop offer. This shop caters the various must have of a girl. Makeups and Outfit of the Day is a girl's usual stuff. In this shop you'll find most of the things you're looking for so less time on switching shops to go look for another stuff.
6.) The color Pink: Color pink is the mostly seen color in the logo which describes who the target audience of the shop. Since pink refers to a girl/woman I decided that the company logo must have the color which represents a lady.
*A simple lesson for you - Symbols are everywhere. Do not judge easily because you might not know the meaning behind it. Apply this to real - life situation wherein do not criticize without knowing the back story.*

Strategies in Avoiding Plagiarism and Importance of Giving Credit to the Source of One’s Work
Nowadays, we are having a hard time identifying whether the information of a source is plagiarized or not. As a Senior High School Student, it is important to have a credible source and a legitimate original information most especially in our Theses. There are times that we already experienced plagiarism without our knowledge. Here are some strategies that help me avoid plagiarism:
1. If you are knowledgeable enough about a certain topic or idea, it is safest if you use your own thoughts regarding the said issue.
2. If you are using a credible source it is most required to cite the references that helped you with your information.
3. Paraphrase and elaborate the idea more. You won’t be sticking in the text itself and taking everything from what the author stated. You should include more of your knowledge rather than the author’s and don’t forget to cite.
4. Know when to cite sources or references most especially when taking soundtracks or tunes from others. Images should also have a credit.
5. Have the sources' information as your guide and do not just copy-paste it. Look into the meaning and understand it deeper then explain what you've learned.

It is really important to give a credit to a person’s work. It is their knowledge and own ideas that paved way for additional information. They should be the one who’ll be receiving praises and not us since they are the ones who really made it. Claiming another person’s work can bring you down. An author exerts time and effort to a said topic before publicly delivering it. We should consider the things that they offered just to have a great source of information. Another thing, we will be lacking sources if all information are just plagiarized. We won’t be able to get new ideas and thoughts that we might forget that it is somehow helpful to each one of us.

Good day, Extraordinary People! The blog for today is all about Media and Information Literacy. For our “New Day, New Knowledge” let us have the words Media Literacy and Information Literacy.
Media Literacy is the ability to access, analyze, evaluate and create media in a variety of forms. (http://www.medialit.org/media-literacy-definition-and-more)
Information literacy is a set of abilities requiring individuals to "recognize when information is needed and have the ability to locate, evaluate, and use effectively the needed information." (http://www.ala.org/Template.cfm?Section=Home&template=/ContentManagement/ContentDisplay.cfm&ContentID=33553)
Before continuing, I would just like to say that the content you’ll be reading is just my personal opinion.
How does a person become literate? How do you classify a person is literate? Knowing that, there are person saying they are literate enough and be little others. It is easy to claim that an individual is literate. On the other hand, how sure that the people are literate? In this blog, it is all about my perspective towards “what makes an individual literate in Media and Information Literacy?”. Information talks about the content while Media is all about the credibility of different sources. Being literate is a tough one. There are qualities that one must acquire.
A person should be able to understand an argument. It is not only about reading or viewing a certain topic but also understanding applies. We should have a deeper analyzation on a statement to be able to know whether the content is accurate or not. We must be certain in a said issue for us not to be ignorant in the future. Just like in schools, we can’t just be fed by our teachers but also we should help them by understanding every lessons that they shower upon us.
A person should be observant in terms of the content and if the information is suitable to where it is posted. There are times that you will notice the words that they used. It depends upon their audience whether the formality of words is suited to the viewers, readers, and/or listeners. One example is the official page of a barangay. In this topic, posting of barangay in social media should have legitimacy, formality, and decency of words used. Officials or admins are not allowed to post whenever they want without the approval of the head because a lot of people will be affected. Mind you, Fake News is circulating all over the country. That is why being observant is highly needed in this time.
A person should be curious in everything. Not just because you know a person is smart you will stick to the idea given by that individual. Try to look for three more sources that has the same thought or idea that you may compare in order not to get tricked by the sender of a statement. Being able to find back up articles to support a topic may help you recognize which are accurate and reliable statements. Most schools, doesn’t allow Wikipedia as one of the sources for related literature. Many people say that in a Wikipedia, the content can be edited easily and not everything in it is a fact.
I am really proud that I’ve been to schools which enhance our skills in different aspect. Not just focusing in one criteria but teachers or professors taught us to be mindful of every criterion. One of the activities that showcases media and information literacy is the news reporting. It is very important that each student should undergo that part. Since, news casting is the easiest and basic training for an individual to be more literate. We all know that reporting isn’t just as simple as we think but there are a lot to do before addressing a certain issue. In my case, as a student I should always be aware to what is happening around to be able to deliver news that are up to date. As part of being a student, most of the time I am studying at school and can’t get a chance to watch in television or to roam around the city in order to get news. What I do is use my phone to check in some news websites for articles which I evaluate the credibility of it. Despite the rush work, I still need to analyze and understand the news in order to be able to deliver it properly and truthfully. Another activity would be, being a teenager I am open in using social media accounts. In social media, there are activities to do in order to spend your leisure time and scrolling through your feeds somehow show different articles. Social media can be a training ground in order to illustrate media and information technology. With social media, especially on Facebook, we keep on sharing different posts of different fields. Before sharing, we should be mindful of the content and sources. This is to have a better understanding and a legitimate information.
As I end this first blog, always remember three things: a.) Understand; b.) Observe; c.) Curiosity
These can help you to deliver and discover new learnings in a smart way. These things are connected with each other because if you are curious to know a certain stuff you should observe what surrounds an idea or issue and understand it deeper for a better understanding.
I hope you learned something new today! More knowledge to share on my following blogs.
