Yuji is so incredibly repressed.

He doesn't let himself feel negative emotions. His grandpa, the whole Sukuna's vessel thing, more or less everything that happens in jjk really, he shoves those emotions into a box and clamps the lip down until he can't anymore and just explodes. We see this most notably with Mahito where Yuji just loses it and all the pain, and rage, and sadness he's been holding himself back from feeling explodes.

And he never gets better, he never learns how to process those negative emotions in a healthier way, he goes from bottling it up to whatever it is he has going on in Culling Game (sorta looks like he's just letting it consume him as part of his own denial of pensonhood and agency, just a machine to kill curses). And this contrasts Sukuna who does whatever the hell he wants. Which then makes it interesting that Sukuna is the one to get a midlife crisis and reevaluate his entire life of shallow pleasure.

A (not so) brief theory about Sukuna and Tengen:

TL;DR: Sukuna/Tengen’s relationship parallels and exists within the same repeating cycle of Geto/Gojo and Yuji/Megumi, which seems to form the basis of the overarching JJK storyline

I don’t necessarily think that their relationship was romantic in nature (although it could have been), but there are clear parallels in the relationships between Sukuna/Geto/Yuji as well as with Tengen/Gojo/Megumi.

(A few of these parallels are just seen with Sukuna/Geto and Tengen/Gojo because Yuji and Megumi are still living out their main story, but so far it adds up. I’m also going to focus less so on Yuji and Megumi in this post since that has been discussed plenty already.)

I haven't seen many people talk about this but when it came to sealing Gojo, Kenjaku was CONVINCED that his plan would work. Thousands of people would never be enough to stop Gojo, but him parading with Geto's body would do the trick.

Now, since Kenjaku possesses Geto's memories it is easy for him to see the relationship they used to have 10 years ago. But how would that guarantee the feelings of TODAY's Gojo for his plan to work?

If you're catching my drift, whatever Gojo said to Geto before he killed him must have been detrimental to establishing their relationship once again and the importance of Geto in Gojo's life.
