Carrie Fisher as Leia Organa with her daughter Billie Lourd as Lieutenant Kaydel Ko Connix and Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, photographed by Annie Leibovitz for Vanity Fair.
This is a common refrain among the new generation of Star Wars actors: that Fisher was the one who taught them how to deal. Boyega recalled that when there was a backlash against his appearance in the first Force Awakens teaser trailer, released in November 2014—the sight of a black man in stormtrooper armor drew ire from racists and doctrinaire Star Wars traditionalists—Fisher counseled him not to take it to heart. “I remember—and forgive me, I’m going to drop the f-bomb, but that’s just Carrie—she said, ‘Ah, boohoo, who fuckin’ cares? You just do you,’ ” he said. “Words like that give you strength. I bore witness in a million ways to her sharing her wisdom with Daisy too.”

Memoriter
Adverb
[muh-mawr-i-ter, -ter, -mohr-]
1. by heart; by memory.
Adjective
2. involving or requiring memorization:      the memoriter aspects of a college course.
Origin: Memoriter is as rare in English as it is in Latin. In Latin memoriter is an adverb meaning “from memory, by personal recollection” and derives from the adjective memor “mindful, remembering” (also the source of the Latin noun memoria “memory”). All of the Latin words are (partially) reduplicated derivatives of the root mer- (and its variants) “to remember, care for.” This same reduplicated root is the source of Mímir (also Mim) “(the) Rememberer,” in Norse mythology a giant who guarded the well of knowledge and wisdom. The simple, unreduplicated root is the source of English “mourn” (from Old English murnan “to be anxious about, care for”). Memoriter entered English in the 17th century.
“The great objection to memoriter speaking is that it limits and handicaps the speaker.” - Grenville Kleiser, Successful Methods of Public Speaking

Writing is very seldom actual writing. Maybe on the outside it looks as though I’m drinking and playing darts and eating craisins out of the box in my pocket, but this is part of the process. It’s all writing. And I need you to respect my process.

A Barren-scraped Shell
Okay I’ll be honest, 2015 hasn’t been the most spectacular year in my life. Earlier this month I lost my job which has been a hard and existential issue I’ve had to deal with. But what is also known to a very select few, I’ve been dealing with several major bouts of depression and OCD. So why say this now? There are 2 reasons: first, I believe that these issues aren’t the sort of things I would choose to share with the people in my general radius. Depression isn’t something that someone chooses to discuss the same way a soldier openly wants to discuss PTSD. It festers your mind and consumes your ability to better yourself, but believe me when I say I’m trying my hardest here. Secondly on a more intimate level, this is something I must openly acknowledge to myself. My mental issues are a real aspect of my life and being upfront is the most positive way of addressing that fact.
Sometimes I won’t respond back to a text message because I’m not sure how many smiley emojis I should send. There are moments I’m uninterested in conversation at the dinner table because my headspace has randomly taken me hours into the future or past. Chances are I’m in my bed on Hulu or YouTube with no motivation to get up or do anything. I’m looking at my phone for the 12th time in 20 minutes checking for new messages (there are none) and also praying for that 11th like on Instagram. But I’m also internalizing my feelings and shut down because I get to stressed out being an adult and that every choice that is made impacts my mental state.
I’m an internalizer for better or worse. There is no beginning or end to this worrisome mental issue that holds me back from feeling any emotion. But I’m working on getting myself better. In 2016, my resolution is much harder than just cutting back drinking and exercising more.
In 2016, my “insides” need to match my “outsides”.
