Pasemos un ratito al rincón de pensar.

¿Qué nos muestran estas imágenes?

Un espacio ocupado por una persona en situacion de calle, ahora desocupado y considerado "limpio". Si la suciedad se removió y la persona no está, ¿era la persona la suciedad?

Miremos el enfoque de las imágenes.

No están centradas desde un lado humanizante, de reubicar a alguien vulnerable y darle refugio, sino desde el lado estético de una construcción ahora vacía que ya no da indicios de suciedad.

¿Qué es lo sucio entonces? ¿Una persona viviendo en la calle refugiandose del frío? ¿Su sola existencia, que denota una realidad que una parte muy grande la población se niega a analizar o aceptar siquiera? Bajo esta visión lo que se ve, existe y lo que no se ve, deja de existir.

Si el problema fuera la situación de esa persona, el enfoque sería otro ¿Cómo llegó ahí, qué necesita para salir, qué se hace para que no sienta que no tiene mas opciones? Todas preguntas que llevarían a respuestas en las que la derecha históricamente no tiene interés en detenerse. Pero el problema nunca es ese, sino el cómo luce que la realidad de la pobreza irrumpa en la esfera idealizada del rico. La estética pulcra de "la gente de bien" y la suciedad del pobre no van de la mano. No pertenecen a la misma realidad, de hecho no pueden verse juntas bajo ningún punto de vista.

El subtexto a veces nos dice mucho más que mil palabras. En él se esconde la mayoría de las veces la verdad oculta y disimulada detrás de árboles de plástico y cemento. Hay que pararse a verlo, nada más.

An homage by the artist to her father Jamal Badran who was a master of the Islamic arts and calligraphy in Palestine. The installation was placed in Jadet Badran, Onion Market, Nablus. Inspired by her father’s work, Samira created these patterns and calligraphed a poem by Palestinian poet Waleed al-Keilani.

randomly remembering the time in 2012 when everyone kept saying the world was going to end at midday that day and like, i didnt really believe it, but i didnt want to be a complete fool if i was wrong, so i excused myself from class to go sit the field and perfectly timed the beat drop to a skrillex song just in case something happened. and im just. retroactively amused by the idea of ushering in the appocalypse with skrillex. most 2012 thing you could possibly do.
