“That makes two of us.” Jenny replied, smirking at her a little. Admittedly, Jenny was a tad worried, mostly because of Malina’s hesitance and questions when she mentioned the mission to her. Besides, Malina was still a kid.
Hopefully this wasn’t going to backfire.
Tumblr media
Jenny glanced around the runway. There were tons of people out here, but thankfully the plane had to come down a little further out on the landing strip anyway, so there was plenty of room for the explosion when the plane crashed.
She nodded at Malina and put her hands on her shoulders, taking a deep breath and looked at the sky. A few minutes later, Jenny spotted the plane and pointed it out to Malina. “It’s the United Airways one straight ahead.”
Malina looked about as well. She’d turned off her emotion and instead thought in calculated measures in order to take the plane down in a way that would be least likely to hurt anyone on the ground. Closing her eyes, she paid attention to the feeling of the wind around her and the sun beaming down on her face. She remained in this place of peace, until Jenny spoke once more.
Opening her eyes, Malina spotted the plane. It was still quite a distance out, but she wanted to keep it that way. Bringing her hands out by her side, she opened her palms and pressed forward with all the wind she could muster. It wasn’t much at first, only an increase in pressure allowing the plane to continue its journey closer. With a deep breath, she quickly jerked her arms to the right and the wind supporting the wings of the plane moved violently out of place.
Tumblr media
The next moments were a blur. Malina could see people screaming around her, people in black suits speaking into radios. After getting over the initial shock, the sound started to return to Malina’s ears. The gates around the terminal began to close and approaching sirens were screaming in the distance.

Jenny let out a breath of relief. when Malina finally answered her. “Good, thank you. I so did not want to have to be the one to tell Peter that we needed someone else in 5 minutes or something.” She smiled small at her before standing up from the bench and walking toward the nearest set of automatic doors.
Tumblr media
“It should be preparing to land any minutes now.” Jenny muttered over her should, glancing at Malina. “I’ll point it out to you when it’s finally visible in the sky.”
❝Yeah... I’d rather not be the one that screws up an entire mission...❞ She looked into her lap, nodding once before following Jenny to the automatic doors. Her decision was made and there was no looking back.
Tumblr media
Once they made it outside, Malina stared at one of the planes as it took off. Various workers stood around, talking into their radios and she focused her mind using a mindfulness technique that Farah taught her. ❝I’m gonna need my hands. Can you... maybe put your hands on my shoulders?❞

❧ invisichick:
Jenny frowned at Malina’s questions. Part of her knew this would happen. “I don’t know who they are or how many. That’s something you’d have to ask the head himself, Peter. He’s the one who gave me the mission.” She replied, glancing around the airport and then at the screen with the flight arrival times. The plane was supposed to land in 15 minutes. Was the enough time to convince her?
Tumblr media
“I do know that whatever is on that plane has the potential to kill all of us. Evos and non-Evos.  If we don’t sacrifice the few innocents that are on the plane now, millions more innocents could die, including us.” She paused and turned back to Malina, giving her a hard stare. “So are you going to do it or not? I know it’s a lot to ask on such short notice, but we have less than 15 minutes now and I need an answer.”
Malina had always hoped that they people from which she’d be taking orders would be a bit more concerned for those that would be sacrificed by their efforts, but perhaps it would be better if she didn’t know. Every life was valuable and if it would save lives, then there was no question of the worth of her necessary actions.
Tumblr media
Malina met her stare with one of her own. ❝Of course, I’m going to do it. It is the entire reason that I’m here.❞ She just had to shut off the part of her mind that was trying to prolong the inevitable.

Jenny breathed out slowly, not really wanting to answer Malina’s questions. She had a feeling the blonde wouldn’t like her answers and then wouldn’t do the assignment, which definitely wasn’t good. They needed her to do this.
Tumblr media
“It’s a government plane you’ll have to take down from the sky as it lands and yes, people will die. But if it makes you feel any better, they’re not all innocent.” She hoped that last little tidbit would help Malina complete the task. “If we don’t take them out now, though, more will die because of what they’re bringing with them.”
❝Who?❞ Malina turned from the planes to face her. ❝I want a list of names. I want to know who I’m killing.❞ She may believe in the cause, but she would not act in blindness. ❝You say they are not all innocent. How many?❞
Tumblr media
She spoke flatly, keeping her face free of expression. Having spent such a large portion of her life away from other people made it difficult for her to empathize with all of the innocent people that might be hurt. Life, however, was something she understood. In nature, some died so other could live. Balance was paramount.

Jenny sighed lightly. “No, it’s alright. If I had known that you were expecting a different invisible woman, I wouldn’t have snuck up on you like that.” She replied, giving a small nod and smile, glancing over at the dog as it barked at him.
Tumblr media
“Well, it’s quite simple, from what I’m told.” Jenny answered, looking back out the window. “You have to take down a plane, which might be easier if we’re outside, now that I think about it, but that’s up to you.”
❝Oh... wait-what?❞ Malina furrowed her brow, shooting her gaze back to the planes outside. ❝They want me to take down a plane? Which plane? Are they wanting me to keep it here or take it down from the sky? Are people going to die?❞
Tumblr media
Farah had been preparing her for years to do great things, yet the specifics had never quite been there. Was this greatness? Malina shook her head, bringing herself back to reality. Greatness didn’t happen all at once. Greatness happened in steps.

“Yeah, I don’t mean to disappoint you, but I’m not Farah.” Jenny replied, taking note of how excited Malina had gotten. She felt a little bad now but reached out to take her hand that had been searching for Farah’s. When they were both invisible to the world and only visible to each other, Jenny frowned slightly. “Though the name sounds a little familiar.”
Tumblr media
She smirked small at her words. “And yes, some of us are insane.”Jenny waited a moment, turning to look out the window at the planes and then to the screen showing what times they were arriving or departing. “Actually, I’m here on a small mission.” She muttered, finally looking back to Malina.
As the voice failed to confirm Malina’s excitement, Malina finally jumped back, but allowed the woman to take her hand. Her eyes widened as her company came into view. No one around them seemed to notice that she’d disappeared except a crated dog who barked once before falling silent.
Tumblr media
❝Sorry about that.❞ Malina blushed at her own comments. Following the Evo’s gaze, Malina looked out of the window, longing to be outside along with the planes rather than inside of another large building. When she finally spoke, there was a touch of longing in her voice. ❝What mission?❞

Honestly, the assignment was pretty boring and Jenny was a little disappointed, but if they thought that this was important than who was she to complain? It was simple and Jenn had received a picture of the woman she was to look for. With her ability, it was all too easy to sneak up on them.
When Jenny spotted the girl in the airport terminal where you pick up someone from an arriving flight, she walked over and sat on the bench beside her, invisibility shielding her from the crowd. “Waiting for someone?”
Tumblr media
Malina was getting a bit tired of being in large metal buildings, but knew she would have to get used to discomfort if she was going to be any good to anyone. She’d been told where to wait, but had not been told any further information or who she would be meeting. At the sound of the voice, Malina tensed, but did not jump as she’d become accustomed to such surprises with Farah as her primary company for so long.
A smile quickly stretched across her face as she reached over, hoping to find Farah’s hand, speaking in hushed excitement. ❝Farah! I’ve been so worried... You didn’t show up at the train station and no one would tell me where you were, and I don’t really know anyone and I swear some of these people are insane...❞

❧ haphephcbic:
Yvonne had kept an eye on the girl. It was a shame for the foliage. Plant Auras were harder to access, but were great temporary energy boosts. She could never bring herself to kill them though, and getting flowers as gifts was something she had refused for many years.
She leaned gently under the tree she figured the blonde to be hiding in. All she wanted at this point was a nice photo. Yvonne had absolutely no doubt that the child was an evo. No one was that bright and shiny and wasn’t. And that particular golden- HQ would be absolutely thrilled. Placing her hands behind her back, Yvonne leaned back, and started feeling the trees aura.
The tree wouldn’t tell her if the girl was there, but hopefully the wilting leaves would spook her into movement. Or something about those lines.
Malina sighed, becoming comfortable until feel something very... wrong with the tree. It’s strength was draining all around her. She pressed her hands harder against it, thinking perhaps, that her ability had failed her in the moment until she glanced down and managed to catch sight of the Evo that was sucking her life out of her precious tree.
In a panic, she said a quick goodbye to her hiding place and leapt from the tree. She grunted as she hit the ground rolling before managing to make it to her feet and beginning to run off into the crowd. She consistently glanced over her shoulder until she found herself lost in a crowd of strangers. ❝Shit...❞ Malina did her best to gain her bearings before running off in a chosen direction.

7.27; abandoned warehouse
❧ OPEN
Malina had passed the place numerous time, feeling only dread with each passing. Yet, after the terrible display of power at the protest, she could not see anything daunting about an empty building. The image of an entire building full of people being swallowed up played again and again in her head.
At first, she’d thought it to be a storm and had run towards the darkness attempting to do anything she could only to realize that she couldn’t do anything at all. She wouldn’t feel powerless again. She stepped into the warehouse and unrolled a prayer rug given to her by Farah. Malina had been raised in a convent and then by a Muslim woman, but had not found herself grounded to any one religion. However, the state of mind and ceremonial aspects brought her peace and helped her to center her focus.
Once upon the rug, she crossed her feet and closed her eyes. Malina’s hands rose and were held parallel to one another each moving in a small circle. Wind entered through the windows, gently at first before it began to circle around her, bringing broken glass and debris along with it.

Yvonne wasn’t worried about the petty protests happening in the New York Streets. There were agents crawling all over the place, albeit, new ones. Children eager for that first big catch they could call home and tell Mommy and Daddy all about. Maybe Wifey, too.
She, on the other hand, was on the hunt for though not in the main throng. The ones who went in and out, the ones who led, and the ones who got out of Dodge were the ones she was interested in. Intel figured most of Rebel would be tied into the Protest. It made the stragglers easy to capture.
Putting on a facade, Yvonne pulled her phone out, acting like she’d gotten a call when she spotted a blonde girl exiting. A creeping feeling told her she accidentally made eye contact, but it was going to be worth it if she could just get a hold on the girl. As she pursued, she took her gloves off, and tried to follow from a safe distance.
Malina could hear shouting in the distance growing in anger even as she reached up to the lowest limb of the tree that seemed to be becoming one of her favorite places to be alone while trying to adjust to the city. Once she’d hoisted herself onto the limb, she allowed her legs to hang over, opting not to pull herself up any farther. Instead, she would remain just above the crowd while attempting to feel at one with the people below her.
Even so, she pressed her hands against the trees trunk, feeling closer to the foliage than she’d ever felt to any other person. She felt vibrations traveling up the trunk from the roots. Most footsteps shifting while one pair seemed to near her. Humming, she exhaled, causing some of the dead leaves on a broken limb of the tree to right themselves and brighten in their green color.

7.15; evo protest
❧ OPEN
Malina had been instructed to stay inside. It was vital that she continued to evade registration as she had thus far and an event like the protest was bound to draw enough agents to cause trouble. Things would surely escalate at some point as these things always would. With this in mind, she thought it best to stick to the sidelines even as she found her way out of the compound with ease. Very few had opted to remain behind.
Tumblr media
Once outside Malina was greeted with the sounds of shouting and megaphones, but at the sight of an agent, she felt it best to retreat upwards into one of the trees on the edge of the park with low enough climbing limbs.

He narrowed his eyes at her slightly, intrigued. “Interesting thought, but I know them better than you do, clearly, and they will attack in a crowd full of people. You might be able to make due, but with how many of them there are, I doubt it’ll last long enough to take them out.” Sylar looked at her hard for another minute before sitting down on the bench next to Malina.
“I know. Farah got in contact with the base and, since I have more powers, they asked me to come get you in case something happened. She’s not coming.” He paused, raising an eyebrow at her this time and he waited for a response. “Apparently she got called on another mission.”
Tumblr media
Malina furrowed her brow, pulling her hands into her lap before wrapping them in her coat as if it would somehow keep her power from being detected by any of the agents. As he sat, she moved to the edge of the bench to make room for him while keeping her eyes fixed on a man who was rather conspicuously speaking into the line on his wrist.
❝She’s not? Are you... are you sure she’s okay?❞ Malina found it odd that Farah wouldn’t keep her informed, but certain circumstances could easily prevent contact between them. Even so, Malina felt rather vulnerable without Farah after having been by her side for so long. ❝How do I know you’re not with them?❞ She nodded her head towards the guards that were wanding people as they stepped into their terminals.

“You know…muttering to yourself only helps so much.” Sylar commented, hearing the girl whispering to herself from all the way across the station. It had started to drive him a little more crazy than usual before he’d come to check out what was going on. His eyes shifted to the plant, watching the leaves turn just a hint greener.
His lips quirked into a smirk. “I wouldn’t do that in public, little one.” Sylar glanced at her and then to a set of doors all the way to his left. There were a few agents there, trying not to look inconspicuous and failing miserably. “Wouldn’t want to get into a fight or taken in the middle of a public place. Could get nasty. Especially where there isn’t much for you to draw power from.”
Sylar raised his brows at her, head canting to the side slightly. “Unless that’s your plan, in which case, I’d love to get into a fight.”
Tumblr media
The smallest jerk betrayed Malina’s surprise at the voice that addressed her. Without turning her head to face him, she spoke quietly, keeping her voice steady. ❝At least you admit that it does help.❞ She hadn’t stiffened until he mentioned her ability. She’d become so accustomed to her abilities that they felt as natural as breathing. In tune with her thoughts, she inhaled and exhaled life that managed to slowly reach across the terminal into each of the potted plants, helping them to rise together.
❝I’d like them to try and find me in the sea of all of these people.❞ Her lips twitched upward at one of the obvious agents that managed to notice the nearby bed of petunias. ❝There may not be much, but I’ll make due...❞ Though, the simple act alone have managed to leave her feeling borderline asthmatic. She shook her head vehemently, feeling as if she’d already pushed herself enough with the small exhibit of power. ❝I... don’t think that’s a good idea... I’m waiting for someone.❞
