Crocuses are in the same family as irises, Iridaceae. They were first cultivated in Crete and were later brought to the Netherlands. They have been selectively bred for looks as far back as the 1600’s. [x]

Mystical, Magical & Magnificent Monasteries in Meteora…!!!!
The caves in Meteora, Greece, had inhabitants for fifty millennia, but due to raids, “hermit monks” moved to the safety of sandstone rock pinnacles in the 9th century and began building monasteries. More monks and nuns came, building more monasteries perched high upon the cliffs. It is surely unbelieving architecture on mountain top.

This divine village is located on the island's south-west coast and forms a community together with the neighbouring settlement of Kalivia. Limenaria has a beautiful harbour and offers absolutely stunning views of the Aegean Sea and the holy mountain, Mount Athos.
Limenaria is in an area which has one of the mildest climates on the island, and it has become a very popular tourist destination for holiday lovers.
It has retained its unique local culture and many Greek traditions. Visitors can enjoy a wide choice of tavern as and restaurant, serving local Greek dishes, and many of these restaurants are located adjacent to the sea, all along the coastline of the town.
