FINAL FANTASY XIV 1.0 ARCHIVE
In honor of FFXIV: A Realm Reborn's 10th Anniversary and this year's Rising event, comes the public release of my years-long passion project to create a 1.0 Archive of the original 2010 release of the game. This 1,500 page archive contains a full annotated transcript of the original 1.0 MSQ, the 1.x GCQ (End of an Era storyline), full Class and Job questlines, Side Quests, and Open World NPC Dialogue and Newspaper articles.
FFXIV 1.0's continued existence on the internet means so much to me, and this project is possible only thanks to monumental efforts from Gamerescape, ChrysalisWiki, dedicated 1.0 Youtubers, and long-time loremonger AnonyMoose. Thank you all! It is my hope that this archive provides one more accessible source from which to read and enjoy the game that we celebrate every year at the Rising.

I enjoy how in Endwalker, Zenos is operating on a very deep half-understanding on why the WoL does what they do. His plan is to cause a lot of wanton destruction and chaos to goad the WoL into fighting with him, but doesn't understand why they fight--so it whiffs. The one time early in Endwalker that the WoL does ready to fight him it's because there's a serious problem threatening the star and they perhaps want to stop him while he's busy gloating.
But otherwise... the WoL is thoroughly unconcerned when it comes to Zenos, and he cannot understand why. He caused all these problems. Why won't the WoL fight him? He comes to the conclusion that it's because they're distracted by some "other quarry"--again, not understanding why the WoL is focused on something else. He simply cannot comprehend the fact that the WoL fights because they care for other people. It's not even something that crosses his mind--all he knows is that if he causes a big hullaballoo where people die, the WoL will come running. But that simply isn't how things work--the WoL won't come running to Zenos. He isn't a principal threat anymore, and there are serious problems affecting living people that need not only investigating, but care. Why chase Zenos when there are living people that desperately need help, when there's a bigger problem that warrants careful investigation?
Even at the end, he misunderstands the situation--but in his final moments seems to realize that there's something larger that he was missing. "Was this life worthwhile?"
I like to think that in this moment, Zenos finally understood the WoL. For the first--and last--time.
