eridan picks at his claws, teeth grinding against each other the longer the silence stretches. how much of the tightening coil in his chest can be attributed to his faulty gills is up in the air, dry and warm and far, far away. the more she hates him, the worse he gets. he shrugs, if only to fight the sincere little tremble between his shoulderblades. ‘i missed you.’
