@nuitvelvet I'm so hooked! Is this original artwork? What's the relationship between the two kids? Is the left kid the right kid's shoulder devil (literally or metaphorically)? Is this a dream or have they turned off the lights? What's the white-blue thing behind them? A lamp? A b-bot?

a writing competition i was going to participate in again this year has announced that they now allow AI generated content to be submitted
their reasoning being that "we couldn't ban it even if we wanted to, every writer already uses it anyway"
"Every writer"?
come on

"i don't comment on ao3 because i don't wanna be annoying or weird" skill issue + you greatly underestimate the power dynamic here, writing multi paragraph comments is like feeding a bunch of deeply insane and possibly starved ducks at the park and watch them go completely mad over having received a piece of bread

Is this hand-drawn? It looks like it, but I've rarely seen such clean composition (except with digital illustrations).

Some old art from last year that I'm still kinda proud of.

This conversation reminds me, there's a French fanfic in which Alberto (briefly) does go back to his old life. If you're able to read French, it's an onion-chopper. https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13912699/1/
Hi Schmedterlingfreud. I hope you're having a good week. I wanted to ask you: which of the three Underdogs do you find the most interesting?
Hi, and thank you for the ask! And sorry for the late answer (🙏)
---
As for me personally, I would say that Luca and Alberto are almost equally interesting, from this point of view (sorry, Giulia!)
Speaking just for me, in a very self-indulgent way, it's easier to dig deeper into a character like Luca, mostly because I find him more similar to me in many ways. So, digging inside him, exploring the different sides and shades of his character and personality, is like exploring myself too. Is it a sort of self-therapy (xD)?
As for Alberto, on the other hand, I find him interesting for what he does not show, compared to Luca, who is more interesting in relation to what he does show.
If, speaking about Luca, I like to explore his present psychology, his future choices, with Alberto I like to explore the psychology of what he has been, of his past (which is certainly darker and more mysterious than Luca's sunny and joyful one), and of everything he keeps closed and protected inside himself.
The fact that Luca and Alberto are two complementary characters makes them, in my opinion, equally interesting, just in opposite ways. Luca is a character that seems weak, and then he shows his strength. Alberto is a character that seems strong, and then he shows his weak side.
Short answer: I find Luca a more interesting character to write about, analyze and study regarding his future and his future choices, his future evolution, because his past is bright and his future is uncertain. I find Alberto a more interesting character regarding his past, what he was, and what led him to become what he is now, because his past is dark and his future is (hopefully!) bright.
I hope it does make sense -- sorry if it may seem a little confusing, it's not a simple question (xD) -- but feel free to ask me more, if you would like to :)
Have a nice day and a great week to you too! 🌻

Thanks for the thoughtful answer! I think I understand what you mean: the dichotomy between Luca and Alberto puts them on another level compared to Giulia.
That said, personally, and just going by what the movie tells us, I find Alberto to be the more compelling of the two characters. For one thing, Luca loses a lot of his depth at the end of the movie, by virtue of becoming braver. He doesn't seem to be any harboring as much inner conflict as before. For Alberto, the conflict is still there (as seen in Ciao Alberto). And also, the stakes are higher for Alberto. If he doesn't make peace with his past, he'll likely be plagued by fear and shame for the rest of his life. Whereas, the worst that can happen to Luca is that he gets held back a year or two. Not good for his self esteem and social life, but nothing traumatising. Unless I'm missing something?
Let me know what you think. I don't care about being right, I just enjoy exchanging views about the movie.
