i've had to change the first chapter of a fic i'm working on.... so many times. first my mentality was "eh, idc if the idea itself isn't the most original, as long as i'm not accidentally plagiarizing someone else's work it's okay," to "okay there's this thing that no one else has done before with this prompt, so i'll be the first to do it," then finally "wait, this character doesn't fit well as the MC. Time to make another alternate version of her!!1!"
