Elijah was leaning up against the wall near the food table, one hand in his pocket and one holding a drink. He always enjoyed people watching and, of course, the best place to see the most people was there. Plus, before he left the house his Mami had warned him about the annual punch spiker and he wanted to get some before the inevitable occurred. He had been thoroughly enjoying himself at the dance. He was loving watching all of the talented people in his school perform and he couldn’t wait to watch both of his sisters kill it. He smiled when he saw a familiar face approaching him, “This thing is actually a lot of fun.” he said gesturing to the gym, “I didn’t really get the theme but now that I’m seeing it all, it makes sense. It looks good.”

Well, I got a tux today. Mami was a bit mad that I asked at the last second, but I have it before the dance and that’s half of the battle right?

I’m sure I will, my siblings are the best. My sisters especially, they always keep things interesting around the house. I wish I could travel a bit but ya know, being 17 and all. Family time is the best, a bit crazy, but the best.

“ah, same! i have no damn idea what the hell i’m wearing to this dance,” she sighed out as she shrugged her shoulders in defeat. mimi nodded in agreement with her brother. “you got that right like her wedding dress was beautiful.” she replied. the green eyed beauty looked back at her brother with small shrug and laugh. “i mean it would be weird if we won but i highly doubt they’re going to vote for a brother and sister to win. besides i’m not that popular around here to win anyways so i don’t think it’s going to happen,” she chuckled a bit. “thanks, i know,” she winked.

“You should probably get on that, like soon.” Elijah warned with a grin. “Don’t want to be caught wearing last years dress.” he waved his hands in the air, pretending it would be the worst thing in the world. He knew Mimi probably didn’t care about that sort of thing but he always found it funny the way most girls do. He wears the same three outfits everyday. “I’m not sure, we are like legacies here.” he shrugged, clearly conveying his sarcasm. “You’re popular Mimi, way more so than I am.” he clarified, raising his eyebrows at his sister. “But that doesn’t mean anything in the long run. You’re nice and funny. People like you.” he didn’t like when mean people were popular. No one should ever be liked for being mean to other people. He always admired that even though his sister hung out with some people in that crowd, she was never cruel without a good reason.

Yes, not sure how much studying is going to do me good but break is coming either way. Plus, the formal is Friday so we have that too. I can’t wait for Christmas, I love being with all my siblings for the day. I’m ready, I don’t really get them anything at Christmas, can never think of a gift. Plus, I don’t really think people expect it from me since I’m 16. But, I will probably buy everyone some bangin’ hot chocolate for Christmas morning.

mimi looked over at her bother with a soft smile. her family was her biggest fan and she was theirs. she and elijah grew up side by side and before sofia and aiden, it was them two. “eli, you grew so damn much over the last year. i highly doubt your old tux is going to fit, you giant.” she chuckled, shaking her dark locks. “dude, I was nominated for queen!” she playfully hit his arm with a small smile. “I am hoping Gabriella and I both win so we can rule the school.” She grinned a bit. shaking her head, “nope,” she popped the p. 

Elijah laughed at the comment, he hadn’t really thought of that. He just figured he hadn’t changed his eating or workouts so he was still the same, but his sister had a point. “I guess I better get Mami to take me shopping then.” he concluded with a smile. “She always knows what looks best.” He grinned, but then pulled a face when he realized something, “Wait. What if we both win? That would be weird.” he feigned pain at the small slap, “I would definitely give my crown to Gabby if I won, better you and her than her and I.” he laughed again, “You two would be a force to be reckoned with.” Elijah loved his sister and how happy she seemed to be since dating Gabriella. He didn’t know her too well, but he hoped that would change eventually.

“so i’ll be singing give love on christmas day at winter formal or winter in the woods - whatever the hell you wanna call it. are you planning on singing something or do you have your outfit ready for it? because it���s next week,” she sang out softly while she leaned against the lunch table while she filed her nails. 

“You’re gonna sound awesome.” Elijah said, proudly. He loved his sisters’ voices and could listen to each of them and his moms sing all day. He wasn’t too musically inclined himself but he was blessed with a family that was. “I didn’t get anything new, I think I’ll probably wear the tux I wore last year. Pretty sure it still fits.” he shrugged. “And I guess I was nominated for King so that’s cool.” Typically he wouldn’t be sitting with his sister at lunch but he had a free period due to some things being moved around for testing before break. “Doesn’t that thing hurt?” he asked, glancing down at the nail file in concern.

because it’s stressful – you gotta shop for people you like and you don’t like, you gotta wrap all the presents, let’s not get into the cooking or the family drama that comes with it. are you telling me you don’t get stressed during holiday time??

I mean or you could just not? I don’t know I guess I don’t really get gifts for anyone. I don’t have a job so I don’t have money, I usually just offer to help my moms out extra around the holidays and that’s my gift to them. I’ve learned that if you walk away, usually the family drama won’t bother you, at least that’s how I am with Mami’s side of the family anyway. As far as cooking goes, I just eat it. But I’m really good at decorating cookies. So, no. I don’t really get stressed.. you on the other hand seem stressed.

because my sweet dear child, it’s hard looking for presents for loved ones, dealing with horrible people while you shop, not getting enough hours to work or finals are tearing your apart. you know the usual stuff. 

Well don’t most people just shop online? Cause I totally would if I got things for people, seems like the best way to avoid half of the problems. I do agree finals are annoy, why can’t teachers give them a little earlier and spend the rest of the time enjoying the lead up to break? It just seems cruel to me.
