WIP Wednesday

It's Wednesday, my dudes. Nobody tagged me, I just need all the happy chemicals I can scavenge, and I enjoy writing Ta'av wreaking havoc.

“Do you miss being alive?” Heads swiveled towards Ta’av. The Bhaalspawn was leaning back in her chair, the picture of indolence, but every bit of her attention was focused on Ketheric. Enver recognized that quiet, predatory mood, from the twitch of her pale tail to the banked heat in her eyes. And it irritated him. “Am I not alive?” Ketheric replied. “Not entirely.” Only her tail moved as she stared at him. “I would know. Living creatures usually stay dead when you kill them.” “Hmm. And what is it that I am supposed to miss?” Enver did a poor job of hiding the roll of his eyes, but his fellow Chosen did not notice. “Warmth,” Ta’av said. “Pleasure. Desire. The sun, perhaps.” She suddenly leaned forward. Ketheric’s expression remained guarded, but he did not look away. “Food that doesn’t taste like decay,” she continued. “Feeling your own heart beat faster as you hold another’s life in your hands.” “An ability that I have not lost, I assure you.” She stood, stepped forward, and shrugged in one fluid motion. “It’s not the same. You miss other things more, though. A lover’s touch. Softness. Waking up with a woman in your bed.” Ta’av stopped when she reached the head of the table, an arm’s length away from Ketheric, and she tilted her head to the side as she studied him. “Your wife, especially, I think.”

honestly, especially in the current state of the world, you all have GOT to kill whatever puritanical voice inside your head keeps insisting that if something is erotic it has no social, artistic, or intellectual merit.

stop acting as if someone can’t enjoy both erotica and literary fiction or classics. it’s not some dichotomy.

stop acting as if erotic art can’t be poignant and meaningful. and that includes all erotic art - not just fine art.

stop insisting that sex scenes or erotic material ruin movies and shows just because you, personally, get icked out watching it.

no, not all erotic art is high art, and not all erotic art is meant to invoke deep intellectual discussion - but insisting that makes erotic art valueless, a disservice to intellectualism, or whatever else - does nothing but add fuel to a fire built on conservative ideology.
