“then i have done my goal for that day. i always try to make a person smile or laugh at least once a day.” the gifted vampire replied.
“that’s a good goal,” eli said. he noted the woman’s strange eyes and unnatural beauty, just like the others he’d observed in this town. he was curious, and wanted to ask, but he also didn’t want to scare the woman off.

“I saw the sign you guys have posted up for a tarot reading.” She had pointed behind her towards the paper before letting her hands fall once more to her side. “And I just wanted to see if I get mines read.”
“of course,” eli said, smiling. “please, come in. have you ever had a tarot reading done before?”

she offered a halfhearted smile, “oh… well, i’m sure i can look after myself. but i appreciate the concern.” she paused. “i’m just going for a walk.”
“this late at night?” eli asked. he noted how the girl had extremely pale skin and was beautiful, just like all of the people with yellow or red eyes, so he decided to pry a little bit further. “you know, i’ve heard about attacks happening to people at night here. weird for a small town, don’t you think?”

Sasha had dealt with witches a long time ago, but none of which had dabbled in tarot. It was new for her. Sasha then did as instructed, splitting his deck in half and laying both halves out. “So what can you tell me? if not specifics.”
“i can tell you the themes that will likely have shown up in your past and present, and will show up in the future, as well as what boundaries might be preventing you from reaching your full potential,” eli explained and he put the bottom half on the top half. he took the cards and started laying out the cards.

“i was listening to music while doing it, so you never know. but if they find a dead body once all the snow melts, well then, it wasn’t me.”
“i don’t know anything,” eli promised, crossing his heart. he couldn’t help but burst out laughing then. “man, i needed a good laugh today.”

“you won’t it here, silly goose.” maverick chuckled. “we’re jumping into the ocean… off a cliff.” maverick grinned and walked over to his car. “jump in!” he clicked the button to unlock the car doors. it might be the middle of winter, but forks’s climate was a funny thing. this week alone is supposed to be in the high forties, low fifties. warm enough for some cliff diving.
“are you crazy?” eli asked. “jumping off a cliff. in the middle of winter. why on earth should i do that?”

Tarot readings it all seemed like a complete bull if she was being honest. Yet she couldn’t fight the curiosity. What was the harm? She had always been willing to try new things even it was something ridiculous like this. “Are you guys open?”
eli smiled at the person who entered the shop. “of course,” he answered. “how can i help you?”

“i hope i didn’t hurt anyone while making a snowman. unless someone is trapped inside, then i would just feel absolutely awful.” layla laughed softly.
“i think you would’ve noticed if someone was trapped inside,” eli said. “was there ever muffled screaming coming from your snowman? if not, i think you’re good.”

eli had admittedly stopped when he saw the girl leaving her house. “um, i just wanted to make sure you were okay,” he admitted. “this place isn’t exactly the safest after dark. i mean, i’ve only been here like a month, but that’s what i’ve heard.”
the small girl locked the door behind her as she turned. to look at rory, you would never expect who she was. a very old vampire. one of the oldest. she was a strong fighter and a quick learner. and one of the things rory used most – people underestimated her. as she turned from the door, she locked eyes with someone in the dark, in the street. “can i help you?”

julia finally calmed down after her laughing fit. but it started back up again when he tacked on the last statement. “oh my gosh!” she had to hold her stomach because it was starting to hurt. “oh, boy. i wasn’t trying to pick you up. it was a social experiment.” she wiped tears of laughter from her eyes as she calmed down. “wow, okay.” a short pause. “i prefer the intimate company of females. i was definitely not trying to pick you up.”
“wow, so, yeah, we’re like, the least compatible people in the world, it seems,” eli said, laughing. “but, uh, people might get the wrong idea if you keep hitting on them randomly,” he warned.

“it would be more promising if they were used to tell my future.” rebecca’s eyes scanned the titles. if she hadn’t been deathly bored at the reservation and didn’t need something to occupy her time, she probably would have walked out already. “if i wanted a self-reflection, i would get a self help book or sign up for a life class. those would be much better ways to spend my money.”
“look, i’m not forcing you to get a reading,” eli said, frustrated with this woman. “i’m not forcing you to believe in anything. i can show you to the self-help books if you want, but don’t tell me that tarot is a scam. it’s helped a lot of people get through their problems.”

idalia looked at the male as he approached her, reciting the rest of the poem word for word. idalia had been alive for the past three thousand five hundred years. redemption is not something that she believed in. the sun would never reclaim her – it would only cause her destruction if the wrong person saw her under its rays. “i guess it serves it’s purpose if some people can find solstice in the words.”
“keaten st. james has some good poems, but they’re better if you like, believe in christianity, just to warn you,” eli said. “i mean, i’m not christian and i like them, but i know it can put some people off. i just think they’re beautifully written.”

julia could not help the laugh that escaped her lips, shaking her entire body. “oh, no! i don’t actually need a band-aid. it was a pick up line. i wanted to see how someone would react. boy, i haven’t laughed like that in a long time! thank you.”
“oh, a pick-up line, sorry,” eli said, blushing deeply as he zipped up his backpack. “and, uh. i’m kinda gay, so thanks but... no thanks.”

rebecca’s eyes moved to the male who spoke up. “i believe they are a scam.” she answered honestly, walking over to a bookshelf. “i’ve grown up around enough stories to know when someone is telling one versus when they are telling the truth.”
“they aren’t a scam!” eli insisted, following the woman. he should probably leave it alone, in case it could cause them to lose a customer, but he was passionate about this. “it’s not like i’m gonna try to tell you the details of your future,” he explained. “it’s all about promoting self-reflection with the help of the universe. cards show up in a spread for a reason.”

“i didn’t drown. i turned out just fine.” maverick grinned. his father was the mayor of forks, and the phillipson men never did anything half assed. if you wanted something done right, you had to do it yourself. even if you had no idea what to do — you learned. maverick spent his entire jumping in head first. “come on, it’s time to jump in.”
“jump in where?” eli asked, looking around. though forks probably had enough puddles to form an olympic-sized swimming pool, he didn’t think this was the kind of weather for a pool party.

“ah, keaten st. james,” eli said upon coming across the customer browsing his books. “have you read the rest of the poem, though? we can leave the battles unspoken, for you’ve worried them over enough. it’s beautiful, the way you reclaim your heart from its ashes. beautiful, the way that the sunrise reclaims you too,” he quoted from memory. it was one of his favorite poetry collections, despite being a little religious. “i like the idea of that. the sunrise reclaiming you.”
“you grow from a mustard seed into a bright gold bloom.” she read off the page of the poetry book she was reading. “i’m not really sure how i feel about that.”

eli shrugged. “nothing wrong with having some fun, even if it’s childish,” he said. “you weren’t hurting anyone by making a snowman, so you do you,” he added.
“is it bad that i got bored today, so i built a snowman?” layla asked the person. “i know it’s a very childish thing to do, but it was just a lot of fun to do.”
