We provide two week intensive courses of instruction to operators as well as those wanting to undertake a comprehensive diverse specialist close protection course of instruction with the intention of working in the close protection industry or to protect their families, friends or staff.

While most military close protection courses of instruction can run for weeks or even months, this is not viable for civilians with careers and financial restraint considerations.

The Todd Group CPP basic course is deemed a basic course only because of the two-week duration.

The course includes all the required specialist close protection tradecraft skills lectures and practical training as well as realistic hands on training exercises of longer duration courses of instruction.

It really comes down to the commitment on course of the exponent’s and their diligence in notetaking and maximising their practice of their new learnt skills during the practical training phases and on the training exercises.

Advanced CPP courses simply include increased training and training exercises duration as well as some increased threat neutralisation options and additional methods of undertaking duties.

The success and effectiveness is in the attention to detail and selfless commitment to providing the safest plan and executing it without taking easy options short cuts and as such failing to deliver the safest and most detailed all-inclusive operation orders to ensure those under their protection are not compromised and are never at risk.

Such requirements mean the exponents on close personal protection courses must fully absorb themselves in the required tasks including copious notetaking and meticulous advance planning and compiling of operation orders that provide layers of protective security and safety.

Developing such operation orders requires long hours of identifying weaknesses and plugging any holes identified in plans to reduce the risk to the lowest level professionally humanly possible.

Simply theory or short small aircraft charter flights or simulations in a grounded aircraft do not provide the realism of the required planning and conducting of protection duties on long haul flights that require more than 24 hours of continuous ground and flight committed protective duties.

From evasive driving to aggressive ramming under ambush through to close protection aimed and instinctive point shooting and the Todd Group close protection tradecraft specific CQB/CQC field of expertise under actions on can take the exponent outside their scope of prior capability and comfort zone.

The meticulous attention to detail of conducting threat assessments and security surveys and instruction on how to develop professional operation orders expose exponents to considerations that they would not normally think of let alone have to spend hours going over with every attention to detail.

Maintaining a discreet status while providing high level protection on training exercises requires a whole new skill set and a very specific demeanour.

Providing protection on exercises in an English-speaking country and then in a country where the first language is not English is a very important part of our specialist close personal protection basic courses.

Utilising indigenous trusted assistants for information, advice and translating as well as respecting culture and customs require exponents to be as informed as possible and conduct themselves with constant consideration respect and care.

Exponents must forget about their home life traits personal wants and must adopt a selfless professional attitude that is about their role as close personal protection specialists and about their protectee’s safety, comfort, wants and needs.

The close protection specialist must be able to manage their time including rest time to be ready and prepared 24/7 and this requires planning preparation and practice to set and maintain a state of constant ready and preparedness.

Forgetting one’s role duties and responsibilities including forgetting your position on the food chain or slipping into a rest and relaxation off duty or tourist mode will increase risks and must be identified in training and corrected to ensure such traits are not repeated especially on any real life close protection assignment.

Intensive close personal protection specialist courses of instruction and realistic extensive training exercises operating in one’s home country and a foreign country with language barriers and different customs and culture are the best way to identify exponents every strength and weakness and ensure they are best exposed to what they will face on real life close protection details.

In short they need to live close protection under the pressures of intensive extensive training exercises that include all the inter action requirements of everyday life under close protection roles and duties.

This was the case with the most recent Todd Group specialist close personal protection course and the attending exponents by the course end had learnt a new specialist tradecraft skill set and a lot about the requirements of working in such a high stress attention to detail required tradecraft as well as about themselves and the strains and stress of specialist close personal protection.

The close personal protection course is a certified course completion course not a tested course of instruction due to time restraints and as such it is very important that exponents fully the understand and have squared away their tradecraft primary practices.

Declare War on Rape / D-War Part Three

The Todd Systems anti-and counter rape training program and manual has been decades in the development phases.

Two of my advisors with the medical aspects of the D-WAR book are respected medical doctors and the medical implications content is very definite and graphic.

Having such experts willing to assist and interested in CQB/CQC is something I am very fortunate to have at my disposal and very appreciative of. The physical skills are promoted as a last resort option only.

They truly are the best specific means of objective achievement against a serious sexual predator determined to achieve sexual relief.

The training equipment for the course is simple practical and specific to such training providing safe realistic training where exponents can achieve proficiency executing the skills with calculated controlled aggression.

The course includes information and training on how to counter covert home invasion predatory sexual violence when the first indication of the intruder is when the victim is awoken in their bed and the sexual predator is smothering them to silence and intimidate them to the point of submission.

The course includes the skills to counter improvised ligatures and clothing being used as an improvised means to blindfold or contain and control the target victim.

The physical counter content of the book and course includes methods to counter common sexual positions by improvised weapons means as well as unarmed genital destruction.

High heel shoes and how to execute a stamp kick to reduce the risk of an ankle sprain is outlined along with when smothered how to create a breathing duct to reduce the effects of the physical and psychological aspects of being smothered.

The course and book also has the obligation to advise on how there are some situations that the target victim will simply not be able to physically or psychologically combat or counter and under such situations how they must go into a personal detective mode.

Contrary to what a lot of self-defence instructors and friends and family of victims of sexual violence like to tell unfortunate victims in relation to them being survivors the reality is very different if they did not do their utmost to take control but merely survived leaving their fate in the sexual predators hands.

The reality is very different when the victim of sexual violence made no effort to prevent the sexual assault, reduce the risk, and offer an alternative less invasive option or employee every means of evidence and information gathering in an effort to bring the sexual predator to justice.

When lying in their bed for example thinking about what if I only had the inner resolve and prior training to prevent combat or counter the sexual assault, I may well have prevented being a helpless victim of sexual violence.

Even in the most dire situations where the individual does not have the psychological or physical capabilities to combat or counter the threat if they have the tactics to reduce risk and proactively commit to becoming their own personal crime scene detective with the motivation of revenge by bringing the perpetrators to justice, then they have employed the safest and best option available to them against the threat in the specific threat situation and this will make post sexual violence recovery and continuation with life that much more manageable.

The programme and manual also outlines while this course is specific to preventing combating or countering serious sexual violence the skills can equally be employed against serious physical assault including serious domestic violence where the likelihood of severe physical injury is imminent if the victim does not neutralise the threat.

Contrary to the military method of instruction in relation to close combat where the candidate will undergo basic course CQC training before any advanced or specialist training courses of instruction, this specialist anti-and counter rape package provides specialist threat situation skills training first up.

There are some threat categories such as being held at weapon point and incoming weapon disarming that are not covered in this course due to the nature of the threat of sexual violence and the modus operandi of the sexual predator in relation to ensuring everything is in their favour.

D-WAR being a specialist and specific program to neutralize sexual violence and not a complete advanced combative or serious threat self defence course of instruction, does not include armed abduction counter measures. the reason for this is the nature of the threat and the requirement for extensive training to neutralize such threats

The dark of night a secluded and unpopulated location combined with the greater physical attributes of the sexual predator would make attempting to disarm a razor sharp edged weapon held at point blank body contact range unwise and unsafe in the dark of night with only minimal training.

These modules are instructed on CQB and CQC courses and exponents spend considerable time learning how to set up and employ ambush phase weapon disarming.

High repetition practice is required as well as familiarity with the ambush phase weapon disarming contingency options.

D-WAR course attendees are encouraged to continue with urban self-defence and or close quarters combat training after they complete their D-WAR course if they so desire.

Knowledge is power and promotes confidence continued practice develops competence and undertaking a threat assessment and Security survey of ones life and plugging any breaches in their personal security and making themselves as harder targets as humanly and situationally possible is emphasised throughout the D-WAR manual and course of instruction.

This book and course of instruction makes no apologies for the contents being so directly and unemotionally presented.

The Todd group have a professional obligation to provide the facts plain and simple and provide the most relevant proven effective and safest means of threat neutralisation.

From the outset the course instructor clearly states that he is sorry if the teachings offend or upset attendees especially those that have previously been subject to sexual violence, however there is no way of effectively providing the required skill set to prevent combat or counter serious sexual violence without being factual and definite in tactics principles skills and terminology.

Utilising natural human reactions and responses in such a threat situation and using them as cover and concealment of your combat or counter actions masking your intentions and taking advantage of the sexual predators natural understanding and acceptance of such reactions is all part of a plan of outsmarting the perpetrator and setting up decided threat neutralisation.

The course is of four hours duration and includes one third of anti-rape theory on how to safeguard one-self and make one-self as harder target as possible.

The anti-rape section comprises of security and threat assessments for the individuals entire life including in the home when going pedestrian, vehicular, in the workplace, public transport, hobbies sports and leisure and when out socially.

Sexual violence is less life-threatening and less immediate.

Sexual violence threats provide the opportunity to employ verbiage in regards to the reducing threat escalation employing conflict resolution and offering a non-penetrative means of sexual relief to the predator and as such securing forensic evidence.

All this may sound disgusting and repulsive but needs to be put into context that outsmarting the perpetrator by either convincing them not to sexually assault you or by offering a less invasive means that can be used to mask genital destruction or to prevent sexual penetration and provide forensic evidence shows commitment smarts and taking control of a dire situation.

The genital destruction skills in the manual that I physically developed will leave the perpetrator incapacitated to the point of being subject to excruciating pain and as a result puking.

The Todd group formerly the Baldock Institute has a unique history of over 85 years instructing European military combative programs as well as defensive tactics programmes, close personal protection and self-protection.

The D-WAR course of instruction is a result of more than 30 years of my instructing special self-defence courses always striving for excellence in principles tactics and skills.

I have researched globally counter rape programmes interviewed many victims of sexual violence looked over sexual violence statistics and spent thousands of hours developing skills that would give the victim of sexual violence the best chance of objective achievement outside deadly force with a firearm.

I found many counter rape programmes were more based on individual style based martial arts techniques that were far from primary options in sexual violence threats and had never been proven under test conditions against specific sexual violence threats.

Striking high kicking grappling or throwing a serious sexual predator with considerably more physical capabilities and far greater physical attributes is nothing less than dangerous to say the least.

Combine the physical advantages with the situational advantages of the perpetrator being ready and prepared as well as criminally motivated goal driven prepared to deal out serious physical harm and the victim needs nothing less than the most proven means of threat neutralisation.

Let me explain what makes the D-WAR very different.
