How to read your tire size?
One can find the tire size of their car from the user manual of the car. Similarly, a sticker is mounted on the inside of the door just beneath the hook.
It has the specification of the car wheels and related size details written on it. If you still have your stock wheels you can also see the size of the tires written on the sidewall.
There is a lot of information on the tires' sidewalls, but the information we want is written in the form of 200/60R15 92S.
Let’s break down all the numbers and letters, the number may also start with a P205/60R15 92S where the P represents the passenger vehicle. There are other letters as well:
“P”= Passenger Vehicle
“LT”= Light Track
“ML”= Mining and Logging
“MH”= Mobile Home
“ST”= Special Trailer
“TR”= Truck
The next number we have is 205. Now 205 represents the cross-sectional width of the tires which is 205 mm.
The next number is 60. This 60 represents the aspect ratio of the tire. 60 is basically in percentage means 60 percent of 205 mm which turns out to be 123 mm. So, this 123 mm is basically the height of the sidewall or the tire.
The letter R represents the structure of the tire and it stands for Radial. The other two configurations include D for Bias Ply and B for Bias Belted tires.
The 16 after the R represents the diameter of the car rim. It tells us about what diameter rim is this tire suitable for. Use the right rim size to install into the tires.
The 92S represents the load index and the speed rating of the tire. Figure 92 tells us exactly how much load the tire can handle. This maximum loading in kilogram and pounds is also mentioned on the sidewall of the tire.
Always have a better load index grade. Never go below the mentioned weight. The fewer quality wheels on a heavy-weight car is a bad decision and are not practical.
This tire can withstand a load of 380 kg or 1389 lbs (pounds) of force.
One might also think that my car weighs much more than 1389 lbs so how can my tires withstand such weight as the actual weight of the car is a lot more. This is because most of the weight is equally distributed on the suspension of the tires and the tires do not have to withstand the entire weight of the car.
The S with the 92 tells us the car's max speed rating, which in our case is 180 km. This means that the car cannot go beyond 180 km.
Thus, it is easy to comprehend and look into any tire and be able to read and understand the specifications mentioned on the tires.
With these simple tips on how to read Tire Size easily, you should be able to buy your car rims and car tires without any difficulty.
Tire sizes matter, so only the right car rims should be used by looking on to the user manual, or tires specification sticker placed in the car door. One can also confirm the tire specifications if the stock tires are present.

Which Are Better 19-inch, 18-inch, or 17-inch OEM Wheels?
As people look to buy the OEM wheels, one of the most common questions is which car wheel size should they choose from between 19-inch OEM wheels, 18-inch wheels and tires and 17-inch wheels and tyres. When choosing car wheel sizes, the biggest priority either comfort or performance. Let’s have a closer look between the pros and cons of these different car wheels and find out which is best for you.
For an assumption, we are going to say that the car wheels chosen are all-weather tires and can be used for rainy as well as dry seasons, and is a low noise tire. As we have taken a standard all-weather wheel it should tell us how the car wheel performance alters when we take a test drive in different road conditions with different wheel sizes.
Dry Conditions:
The 19-inch wheels are going to be the fastest and the 17-inch wheels and tyres are going to be the slowest. This is because of the fact that as the sidewall height is decreased in increasing the wheel size the handling becomes a lot sharper as the wheel face interacting with the road increases more. Hence more grip is obtained for the car wheels. In such a case the car wheels are more responsive to the steering inputs. But even with 17-inch wheels and tyres the performance is great but as we move to 18-inch wheels and tires or 19-inch wheels the performance increases greatly as turns are much sharper than before and acceleration is quicker.
Wet Conditions:
Let’s have a look at what is going to happen when wet handling is looked at. In wet handling, the tables are turned, and the smaller wheel sizes are the ones that outperform the 19-inch wheels. When 17-inch wheels and tyres are used they have more room for cushioning, the tire treads maneuver brilliantly and grip the road better as compared to 19-inch or 18-inch wheels and tyres. The car is a lot more difficult to drive at sharp turns for larger wheel sizes in wet conditions.
Noise and Comfort:
The noise was made the most by 17-inch wheels and tyres whereas lesser noise was made from 18-inch wheels and tires and 19-inch wheels. The lesser noise is due to the lesser sidewall height. Similarly, the higher-width wheels are more comfortable when it comes to driving. As they drive smoother on-road bumps and speed breakers.
Aesthetics:
The 19-inch wheels provide sportier aesthetics and look the best. After 19-inch wheels, the 18-inch wheels and tires are the most attractive. Both the wheels and tires provide a unique sleek look to the car. Due to the low sidewall height and broad wheel size, a lot of designs exist in this category from rotary forged to multicast wheels. 17-inch wheels and tyres are also available at Factory Wheel Warehouse. Although we have restricted our range from 17-inch wheels and tyres to 19-inch wheels, the OEM wheels start from 16-inches and go all the way up to 22-inch wheels. But the most common wheels are 17-inch wheels and tyres, 18-inch wheels and tires, and 19-inch wheels.
Conclusion:
The best wheel to choose from is the 18-inch wheels as 17-inch wheels are not sportier enough while the 19-inch wheels are higher in price. The 18-inch wheels are very good in handling and are comfortable. The 17-inch wheels start to flatter on sharp turns. The 18-inch wheels also flatter re bounces but stabilize quickly after getting rough on the road. The 19-inch wheels on the road are not as much of an improvement when compared to the other counterparts. But in the end, the difference in comfort really depends on the terrain you are driving the car on and which company OEM wheels are used. There are various designs and options that Factory Wheel Warehouse has to offer to its customers. From latest to vintage we offer a large variety of wheels and rims. How to choose which car wheels to buy?
If you want to buy new car wheels you have to do some research on the topic and visit your nearest Factory Wheel Warehouse store. You cannot just sit at home and guess: What wheels are going to fit my new car? For this, you will need help from an expert who can guide you in finding the right set of car wheels according to your requirement. This article will provide you the exact information you need to focus on while buying your new car wheels.
What are the problems that can occur if you do not consult a professional?
First lets discuss the problems you may face while searching for car wheels include unawareness of technical terms like difference between an onset for a car wheel and backspacing for car wheel. You may put your OEM wheels on to your aftermarket car wheels and realize that you have to get them perfectly balanced. You may also find problem in choosing wheel lugs and wheel bolts. TPMS is also an integral part that people forget to install in the car wheel if you have a car newer then year 2008. You also need to know that you have to install the TPMS before you get the tires on your car. After all is done and dusted you may find out that your wheels hit the struts of your car. So, you will have to reconsider all your effort to avoid such problems.
What are the numbers mentioned on a car's wheel?
Now if you are a beginner and know nothing about tires and how the whole metric system works then let me tell you something about the three numbers that can be seen on almost every car wheel. The three number represent three aspects of tire that one should definitely know while looking for new car wheels. The first number tells us about width or traction path in millimeters of our car wheels. The second number is the aspect ratio which is distance in sidewall length, and it is an average ratio of an overall width for the traction path of the tires. So the written number on the tire can be seen as 330/40R18 which means 40 percent of 330 is going to be sidewall height of the car wheel. And the last number in our case R18 means 18-inch wheel diameter.
Do aesthetics add to more complications?
Talking about aesthetics, a lot of time people are looking to buy aftermarket wheels and still get the sporty look. A decent low-profile tire having a 40 aspect ratio usually gives them the sporty look people are running after. But it adds to complications as proper fulfilling of aesthetics requires stretching your tires, knowing offset spacers and what type of wheel you are buying, weather you are buying a multi piece wheel of mono block forged. So, one should keep things simple and see if the wheels chosen fit all the requirements needed.
When does factory wheel warehouse come into play while buying your first set of car wheels?
When buying your first set of wheels we at Factory Wheel Warehouse recommend that you get your fundamentals right, the basics of wheels and tires like diameter, size, width and offset are chosen correctly. You can find your best fit of car wheels by narrowing down on our website www.factorywheelwarehouse.com making it super easy to search for car wheels. Doing so will fulfill all the requirement and you will not have to be worried about adjustments and fender liner clearances, rolling and rubing.
Why is choosing the right brand for car wheels important ?
The next thing is brand preference as when you are looking to buy new wheels. It depends on you weather your looking for a car wheel that is aesthetically pleasing or it is light weight or you are looking for a car wheel with a lot of color options. When buying new car wheels investing on both the car wheels and tires is equally important. So that does not mean that you should buy expensive aesthetically good looking wheels but compromise on tires as there are a lot of companies that offer great wheels at an affordable cost for almost every vehicle out there. Koenig, Rotiform, Cosmis, ESR’s rotary forged line and others like 3SDM are some of reasonable options when choosing car wheels.
What is the right offset for a sporty look?
Taking more about the off set as a lot of people like to have less offset is that having a positive offset pushes the fender of the car to be uplifted and the tire perfectly aligns under the body. On the other hand a negative or near zero offset has a more concave shaped to the body of the tire and pushes the wheel to move farther outwards. Though having low clearance offset might sound or look trendy but it can cause issues like break clearance. So a 35 millimeter off set is perfect if you want to push your tire as close to the fender as possible give you the look and not creating any issues for you.
Conclusion:
To sum it all up make sure to get an expert opinion while choosing car wheels. Make sure the car wheels you are choosing check all the boxes as far as specifications are concerned. You also need to know that spending a lot on a specific brand but compromising on tires is not a wise idea. One should be balanced in this approach. Choosing and knowing the write off set makes work easier gives a sporty look to the car and avoids unnecessary hustle and issues in the long run.
