Alright I know that we’re all tired. We’re 5 months into this now and it can be really tempting to just check out. To be honest, I did that a lot in May. And what I realized from doing that is, yeah, checking out felt nice, but the bad things still kept happening.

Remember, Trump and his cronies want us to stop paying attention. Because if we’re not paying attention, then we’re not fighting back and they can keep getting away with destroying our country and enriching themselves in the process.

You don’t need to spend every waking second of your day thinking about the news. But what I do ask is that, if you see a story from a credible news source about the corruption or more cuts to programs or problems that are starting to reverberate out from previous actions, please share it. Don’t just look at it and move on. Share it.

Fighting back only works if we all do it together. Remember that our communities are our strength.

I don't think people in apartments or other shared living buildings (duplexes, dorms, rented rooms, etc) should be throwing parties or vacuuming or blasting music in the middle of the night, but I think a lot of complaints from people in apartments are so mean-spirited and completely in denial of what it means to live an apartment building. Your upstairs neighbors have lives and kids and friends and bodies. They are going to make noise and you've just gotta expect that.

(Also, as a heavy walker, not all of us can control how loudly we step. Some of us have disabilities that affect our gait and some people are just bigger and naturally have louder steps. That's life.)

Being a committed pedestrian in a major city will make you hyperaware of the ways urban areas will attempt to make themselves hostile to homeless people and the ways that these efforts also make life worse for everyone else. The needlessly narrow sidewalks, the uncomfortable and inconvenient seats at bus and train stops, the noise pollution from convenience stores piping loud music outside. It all sucks, it all has a negative impact on everyone simply trying to exist within a community, and it’s all in service of cruelly trying to drive a class of people from public view.
