ASSESSMENTS
After taking a Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) test, I’ve discovered that I am an INFP-A. Although I’ve taken this test before out of curiosity, the only difference with the results I’ve gotten is that I used to be an INFP-T. I agreed with the results I’ve gotten whilst reading more about the personality type. I found myself trying to disagree with some parts but ended up convinced that I was like that after reading the description. An example of this would be one of the weaknesses stated which was being too altruistic. At first, I said “I’m not selfless” but then the description said that “INFPs sometimes see themselves as selfish”, which caught me off-guard. I both agree and disagree with the careers presented in the infographics in a sense that I agree because I am interested in those jobs but disagree because I tend to avoid socializing with people. I only interact willingly with a few people and interact with others only if I absolutely need to. I sometimes appear as a rude person because I tend to ignore people I know even if I’m aware that they’re there. There are times that I cross paths with previous classmates/block mates, but I only end up telling my friends that we’re about to cross paths with our block mate or that we passed by them and they end up greeting each other while I just continue to walk by them. That’s why among the careers given, I’d say being a writer or a graphic designer appeals to me more because they don’t have as much socializing as a psychologist/therapist wherein I have to meet with people every day. Honestly, the writing career obviously appeals the most to me because I’m already starting it as one of my hobbies. However, I haven’t found the time, because of the multiple hobbies I have and schoolwork, and lack resources since one of the stories I’m making requires research in different fields that I have no knowledge of, such as medicine and programming. I think knowing my personality type would help me in work because it makes me aware of my strengths and weaknesses and help me improve. It also gives me an idea what kind of job I’d feel fulfilled with. However, doing this also makes me question the course I’m taking up in college since they aren’t really aligned. Although I want to be an author, I must still consider the reality that there is a slim chance for me to be successful in that type of career.
After taking the MBTI test, I took the R-I-A-S-E-C which was based on Holland’s Personality-Job Fit Theory. I found my results quite true even though my results were opposites of each other. I got 38 for conventional and 37 for artistic. Obviously, these two aspects are the opposite of each other and my ranking for the rest are opposites as well (Conventional – 38, Artistic – 37, Investigative – 32, Enterprising – 29, Realistic – 27, and Social – 22). I wasn’t surprised that my top two were conventional and artistic while my social was the last. Obviously, based on my MBTI test, you could easily tell that social would be the last and artistic would be somewhere at the top. I wasn’t surprised getting conventional though, because although I appeared to be more on the artistic side based on my MBTI test, I was more aware of my passion for mathematics. I’ve always like math but my passion for writing only appeared in college.
Among the suggested jobs, the ones that appealed to me were cashier, word processor & typist, payroll and timekeeping clerk, desktop publisher, film & video editor, proofreader & copy marker, and multimedia artist & animator. For the first job zone, I’d choose cashier since it was the only one that appealed to me. Ever since I was younger I liked playing as a cashier and I liked handling money. As for the second and third job zone, I would choose word processor & typist and desktop publisher. I’d choose these because I like transferring documents to the computer and I like looking at how magazines were designed as well. The work I do when helping with my relatives’ businesses are like a word processor & typist’s job and I found myself enjoying it. I also remember having a conversation with my dad about how a magazine has a different style for its cover page for every issue. This made me think that my parents have a big influence on the type of jobs I want to have since I remember watching that my mom counts money really fast which got me interested in handling money, while my dad often talks to us about design and aesthetics which is probably what influenced me to become interested in art.
For job zone four and five, I’d choose being a proofreader & copy marker and economist. My choice for the last two job zones is influenced by my college life and hobbies. I found out that I like proofreading because when doing group works, I often proofread the paper to make sure that it’s grammatically correct and consistent. I think my reading hobby was the cause for this since a lot of the stories I read have grammatical errors or typos and since I experience them most of the time, I have grown used to it, but I still know how bad it looks and how hard it is for the reader if it’s presented like that, so I ended up liking proofreading. Wanting to be an economist was also influenced by my college life because I had no interest whatsoever before taking up economics classes. I became interested in my first two economics classes and that’s why I am currently taking it up in college. Based on the level of preparation needed, I think I would be able to take up everything once I graduate since as I said before, I’m taking up economics in college. However, I think I would need to have a lot of experience to become successful. I believe that these jobs would be fulfilling for me because I am quite interested in all of them. In comparison with my MBTI test, I think it’s hard to decide if my level of introversion matches it because as I’ve said before, the rankings of my aspects are opposites of each other. However, I’d say that I do lean more towards introversion since obviously, my social ranking is the lowest.
After doing a 360° Assessment test, I found out that my friends think of me more positively than I do of myself while my sister and I somewhat agree to how I see myself. There are parts wherein my sister things more positively while some are more negatively. I wasn’t shocked as much when I found out the results of the survey since I know that even though I tend to procrastinate and cram, I still get the job done on time, which is why I got the highest ranking for responsibility among the aspects. I also expected getting achievement as the lowest rank since I rarely aim high, and most of the time I only do what’s expected. This type of assessment is important because it allows us to see ourselves in another person’s perspective. There are times that we know ourselves differently from how other people see us and I think it’s important that we can link these two together to know our strengths and weaknesses for us to further improve ourselves in the future.

GENERATION Z
After preparing for Millennials’ entry to the workforce, it’s time for businesses to start preparing for Generation Z’s entry. Although it seems that Millennials and Generation Z are similar, they have a few differences that the business world will need to adjust to. One of these is Generation Z’s dependency on technology. Although technology was already considered as important for Millennials, Generation Z lived their lives with smartphones since this generation grew up when smartphones and social media have already been long introduced.
Since technology has become second nature to this generation, we’ve learned to take in information quickly and that every second matters because every second we missed could’ve been a second where we learn new information. This characteristic of Generation Z can be considered both an advantage and a disadvantage, depending on how a person uses it. Being able to take in information quickly is an advantage since it gives us more knowledge. However, this means that we do everything at a fast pace and tend to avoid reading long articles that would’ve given irrelevant information. Therefore, it is important that we make articles easier to read by highlighting relevant information, such as what I’ve decided to do in this entry which is using boldface for important parts. This way, a person reading this can quickly scan through and get the information they need quickly. Being dependent on technology is, however, disadvantageous because people are no long able to connect without it. We interact with people mostly through technology now that when technology is taken away, it becomes more difficult to interact. Furthermore, there are people who act differently on and off social media, which would become a risk if for example, you believe the person you’re interacting with is someone you personally know but, unfortunately, he/she isn’t, and so you share private information that you wouldn’t have disclosed if it were someone else. Therefore, we also need to learn to be a little less dependent on connecting through social media.
Social media was introduced during the age of Millennials and since it was new, people did not put much thought into it when they started using it. Later, we’ve grown conscious of what the public sees about us and we learned the importance of how what we’ve posted could impact our lives. Learning from this, Generation Z is aware of the importance of privacy. This generation likes platforms that do not have a permanent record of what they’ve posted. This way, whatever they’ve shared won’t come back to haunt them someday. Companies need to prepare for this because there are some companies who use social media to have a different view of the people they plan to hire. However, since Generation Z is aware of the permanence of what they’ve posted, they can filter out what they want and don’t want people to see. Also, since this generation likes their privacy, views on some practices become questioned as to whether they are ethical or unethical. An example of practices that are questioned would be the company being able to see everything an employee does on his/her computer. Therefore, companies will need to adjust their policies relating to privacy.
Lastly, a slight difference between Millennials and Generation Z is how Millennials’ favor sense of purpose over paychecks. Although Generation Z also views sense of purpose as important, they also view their paychecks to be important. The Great Recession has greatly impacted how Generation Z live their lives. Due to the recession and the influence of their parents (from Generation X), Generation Z is more inclined towards safety. Therefore, companies must make sure that this generation receives a good paycheck and feel that what they’re doing has an impact to society.

The main goal of a business is to earn a profit. However, this doesn’t mean that business leaders should put earning a profit above everything else. I believe that business leaders should have a code of ethics which would guide them in making business decisions. This is important because it limits a business leader’s tendency to simply focus on the earning a profit. It reminds the business leader of their values that they must uphold. This prevents business leaders from making decisions that could harm the people in the organization and the society in general. Although there are some laws and regulations that prevent organizations from harming society and its environment, it is possible for the organization to do simply the bare minimum while the code of ethics allows us to think of the common good therefore not needing to only to reach the bare minimum but also to go beyond.
Each person has a purpose and it is important for a business leader to reflect on his/her purpose because this is where the values they consider for their code of ethics come from. Furthermore, this gives him/her a better vision of their goal is while taking into account their values. This would pave a path for the organization and become a guide in what the business leader should take into account when making decisions for the organizations. Since the business leader makes decisions for the organizations, he/she should guide the organization in line with what his/her values are because the decisions he/she makes reflects on his/her reputation as well. A business leader must possess integrity when dealing with other people, otherwise, he/she would face difficulties with people in the future. Lastly, I think business leaders should always allot time to think and go back to their roots. It’s important to remember of the reason he/she started and the values that served as a foundation for his/her decisions.
