Molly went on a forest/beach adventure recently with Bennett, and they truly felt like they were in a movie! ❤️🌲⛱️

In the short story Kirsten's Promise, we're reminded that life in Minnesota Territory can be difficult. Kirsten encounters a little boy named Ezra who is cold, starving, and utterly alone after his mother dies on the wagon trip west. He refuses help, and makes Kirsten promise not to tell anyone he's alone. But Kirsten is wise, and after talking with her brother Lars, she realizes "a person's life is more important than a promise".

So this is my rendition of Kirsten's 2003 Plaid Dress and Shawl that's associated with the short story. It's hard to find and it's never affordable, so I decided to make it myself. I bought the fabric from this Spoonflower shop. I really struggled to make this look good since I didn't have a pattern, and so I had to omit the scalloped sleeve hems, and just did the best I could for the bodice piece. I still might remake that part eventually. But the dress looks better with the shawl anyway. I made the shawl from a very soft woven kitchen linen of some kind that I found at the thrift store. I folded it in half, stitched it together to give it a quilted look, and fringed the ends.

My Kirsten almost has a complete outfit collection--I'm still missing a couple of pieces that I plan on reproducing some day, just like this one!

completely true and 100% irrefutable proof as to why taylor swift had a kirsten larson doll as a child

- taylor’s braids in the “karma” music video

- these lyrics: “dutiful daughter, all my plans were laid / tendrils tucked into a woven braid” (from “but daddy i love him”)

- taylor’s final dress in the “willow” music video (credit to @bluegreendolls for reminding me of this one!)

most importantly, however…

- taylor burnt down her lover house, and kirsten was the reason behind her family’s cabin burning down
