A little bit of a hidden feature in Anystrings packaging is the reel is the perfect size to put a tapered candle in. When designing the reel I wanted to have sustainability on my mind. The reality of durable packaging unfortunately is the lack of materials that can fully replace a good plastic. I thought about how the shape can be interpreted and reused instead of all of the packaging ending up in the landfill. Taper candles are back in style and i thought the nude reel was perfect for a candle holder.

Packaging Chats
Overall; Im super stoked with how my packaging turned out. Simple in structure; I believe I did a good job of adding a wow factor with perforation and a slanted roof. Marrying my minor into studio this semester has given me an opportunity to show what I’m capable of.
Having the ability to design a reel for my string in the same programme as the packaging so they all fit together harmoniously was a real win and I think I executed it well for a home studio and designing it by myself. I tested the perforation to get it to exactly where I wanted it to be in terms of realism towards other perf looks on packaging.
The labels worked out rather well too, I knew I wanted the string hanging out the hole to some regard when designing this packaging. I often want to look and touch when buying craft materials. The labels allowed me to keep the string secure while adding another design element and showing off the patterned string.

Today I printed onto 300gsm ultra white board to go over my mount board base . I then laser cut the dieline onto my printed paper . This was quite difficult to set up but the accuracy and finish doing this process was quite amazing.

Materials
The Materials I bought for Anystring were A4 sheets of 530MIC Grey Mount Board; A3 & A4 Sheets of both 300gsm Ultra White Board & A4 label paper
I plan on making stickers and a mockup barcode for where it would be placed on the packaging.

Colour Pallete Breakdown
Modern Neutrals
Colour of 2022 - Very Peri (and its counterpart) felt like good neutralisers for the bright main pallete.
Classic Brights
Bringing that essence of childhood and creation, the blue and yellow from our original pallete were joined by a bright green and red.

Design Studio Blurbs in the Leave Behind
Considering showing information/a blurb for Echo Design in this branding leave behind we discussed in class whether it was necessary/appropriate. Personally I think it would be appropriate to have the word mark for echo on the spine or in a “publisher” role on the front cover. Others thought maybe before the project or at the back.
Im also considering whether a dust cover is appropriate?

Illustration concept - Ball getting smaller
Ive seen a lot of blends of circles to smaller skinnier versions around that seemed to represent what our brand stands for, having a ball of string last until its gone. I applied it to a slightly more vibrant version of our original colour pallete and really like it.

Concept
When I was doing some extra research I came across this gorgeous project by Dimitris Ladopoulos. I really love the texture and think visually I could make it represent string. Alas, this project is making me want to revamp our colour pallete to something vibrant and playful ul maybe adding a colour here and there.
