The Birth of EllaReuu

Three years ago I was unemployed for 11 months. During that time my mentor sent me a set of DVDs by @jkjenkins entitled Promotion & Progress. I was suffering from bronchitis but decided to fast for 3 days anyway. On the first day of my fast I made a list of things I wanted God to “move” on and I began my day with prayer. I then sat down with my notebook and a cup of tea and listened to Pastor John K. Jenkins explain the concepts of Promotion & Progress!

Three days later I successfully completed my fast and was still pondering my notes. I understood that God gives all of us natural talents/gifts. I understood that He expects is to use those gifts to further His Kingdom. I understood that meant I must have gifts. But, I was having trouble figuring out just what gifts I had been blessed with.

That evening I grabbed my camera and went out to my sons football practice where I had been taking action shots and sharing with the team parents. Just as I was leaving a parent I had never spoken with walked up to me and said, “ How much do you charge?”. I looked at her with a puzzled expression and said, “For What?”. She returned the puzzled expression and said, “Your pictures!”.

I have not put my camera down since that day. Although I have four degrees, to include a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Psychology, I have loved taking pictures since I was a child. However, I got lost in the whirlwind of climbing the corporate ladder and put my camera on the back burner for years.

Picking my camera back up has helped me realize my true creative nature and is what led me to attempting design although I’m far from an artist! Paired with my love for quality time pieces and apparel and EllaReuu was born!

The Vision of EllaReuu Part 2

Repairing the Environment

The second component of the EllaReuu Vision is contributing to the improvement of our environment. As societies have grown intellectually worldwide our abilities and capabilities have increased exponentially! This has obviously improved efficiency on all fronts but it has also had a severely negative impact on our environment!! The transition from using water and wind for energy production to using fossil fuel technology has been a both a blessing and a curse. A blessing for obvious reasons but a curse because if we don’t do something the environment will not continue to support the level of Abuse we’re handing out. It’s going to take all of us working together to begin repairing the damage that has accumulated over decades. EllaReuu is committed to being a part of that. EllaReuu will contribute to repairing the environment by using Eco-friendly manufacturing practices and materials. Additionally EllaReuu will be partnering with other organizations to provide training and resources to school aged children, so that they are aware of the status of the environment as well as the tools that they can use to help repair the damage. We will be partnering with community organizations as well to grow flourishing clear community gardens throughout the world! EllaReuu is an environmentally conscious designer!

Create Timeless Designs: There is a huge difference between the phrases “classic style” and “in style”. However, in today’s world these phrases are often used synonymously. The Birth of EllaReuu Pt. 2 The Prequel

In the movies I guess this would be called a prequel.

Just a couple of nights before I received Promotion & Progress (@jkjenkins) I was in the shower and I just broke down crying and dropped to me knees (yeah, sista getting her hair wet and all). I looked up at the corner of the shower and said repeatedly, “OK guys OK. I get it. You’ve closed every door so the only thing that I could possibly do was come to YOU.”

I get it GOD. I’m sorry. I thought it was humble but I wasn’t. I thought I was good but I’m not! I’m so sorry God. I didn’t understand. I thought I was successful because “I” worked hard “I” studied and “I” put school and work first. I’m sorry! I’m so sorry I didn’t give YOU the credit YOU deserve when others complemented my accomplishments. I’m so sorry I didn’t come to YOU first. I’m so sorry I didn’t give to YOU first and my best when that’s all YOU ever gave me. I want to know YOU GOD and I’m so very sorry.“

I cried for what seemed like hours looking up at the corner in the shower; and then I was quiet and stared waiting for something. The water had gotten cold but I couldn’t move until I got what I was waiting on; even though I had no idea what it was. I just knew I needed to hear from HIM! And I did!

I saw something through my tears in the shower and instead of looking to see what it was I closed my eyes and exhaled. I knew HE was present. With my eyes closed I saw HIM! Jesus was there looking down at me. HE was smiling and though his lips never parted I could hear HIM say,

"It’s okay. I knew you would be here. I knew why before you even existed! This has all been in MY plan. You needed to get here so you would be ready for the work I have for you to do. It’s OK! ”

I accepted HIS words and my body relaxed. My breathing was noticeably slower and a weight had been lifted. I opened my eyes and I knew my life would never be the same!

In hindsight it’s awful that I had to be at “my rock bottom” to realize HE was who I needed to call on. But the fact remains that I finally did.

Brand Ambassador Defined

If you have read m previous blog entries, you know by now that EllaReuu is not simply a designer. From birth EllaReuu has been about the creation and design of items that are classically styled, in a meaningful way. EllaReuu represents natural beauty and timeless style. That’s why EllaReuu isn’t just interested in having a Brand Ambassador who’s famous. Sure famous is great and would likely generate a ton of sales; but EllaReuu is more interested in the Soul of a Man or Woman. That means looking deeper than the surface which is exposed to the whole world. 

EllaReuu wants Ambassadors who are ‘real’ and although none of us are “good” they are always trying to be better. People who aren’t afraid to tell their story because they know it’s going to be a blessing to someone else.

I’‘m guessing that all of this sounds ....well I’m not sure of the word to describe it except maybe weird. I may be shooting myself in the foot here but I would rather continue being a $10-a-naire with the integrity of my brand in place than to sell my soul to the highest bidder so that I can be rich with money! I’m not into being rich. I’m into being wealthy!! That’s at the heart of EllaReuu. God brought me this far and I will not stray from HIM for the love of money or fame.
