Hollywood stuntman set on fire for Pink Floyd cover dies aged 88

Ronnie Rondell Jr - who was famously set alight for the front cover of Pink Floyd's iconic Wish You Were Here album cover - has died at the age of 88.

The Hollywood stuntman and actor died on 12 August at a care home in the US state of Missouri, according to an online obituary.

Rondell was involved in the production of a number of films and TV shows during his long career, including Lethal Weapon, Thelma and Louise and Star Trek: First Contact.

He is survived by his wife Mary and his son, who is also called Ronald.

you have got to understand that your mother tongue is not the model of language. all your words have secret histories and layers of meaning just the same as other people's words. the word you think of as just a word has etymology, it wasn't handed down from God as a finished word. English doesn't have a word for movie you have to either refer to the recording medium or use a short version of "moving picture", isn't that cute?

Losing my mind watching people not understand why Jax treated Pomni like that, yes he was awful to her, yes he absolutely said things he shouldn't, but he's VERY BLATANTLY self isolating, he's not being a dick for dick's sake, he's BLATANTLY trying to villainize himself to Pomni so Pomni leaves, but she is able to correctly call him out for the fact he's lying because he's scared of the fact he let her in even a little, and while Pomni doesn't have to take it, it's clear she is unsatisfied with the narrative Jax is clinging to and is wanting to push Jax out of that comfort zone because she sees the damage it's doing to everyone including him.

It's sloppy and messy and bad for them, but it's not Pomni being helplessly gaslit, Jax isn't trying to subtly manipulate her, he's trying to self harm with her, he's literally trying to get her to shoot him in the head without him fighting back. He's hurting himself on her to make her leave and to make him not want to reach out to her.

Which is still again, unhealthy as fuck, but in a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT way to just Jax being a manipulative jerk and the fact she doesn't seem to want to give up isn't a sign of jax "winning" or "manipulating her" it's her seeing through his bullshit and going "nope, you are a person, a terrified angry person lashing out, and i dont have to take this, i wont let you walk over me, and i won't let you do this to yourself unchallenged."
