âdonât think iâve ever met her,â gunner chuckled lightly, giving a small shake of his head as he did. but the question of man caves had his head shaking. âno, i donât do man caves. unless you count my office, but thatâs just because i have all of my sports memorabilia in there.â heâd let her take from that what she may - he knew there were multiple ways it could be taken, after all, because plenty of people collected that sort of thing. he just wasnât one of them - all of his was actually his. âplus, thereâs not much reason to only have a single room in my house be a man cave - i live alone, the entire thing could be a man cave if i really wanted.â he clears his throat as she talks more about the book club - still not convinced to join himself, but maybe heâd give it a shot if he felt like it. âi guess thatâd work. i donât really have a ton of experience with those kinds of things.â
â SHEâS GREAT. if you ever need any interior design help, sheâs amazing at her job, â  elle gushes. itâs hard to believe a man when he says he doesnât have a man cave, but if gunnerâs home has as many books as heâs explaining, she doubts itâs a traditional man cave.  â well, i meant your entire apartment actually, â  she lets out a laugh,  â but thatâs good to know. iâd love to see it one day, uh, if you donât mind. and i donât either, honestly. but iâll let you know if it actually happens. i canât plan anything until christmas is finally over. â  the holidays were always a stressful time.

âwell, if you ever decide do actually do it, at least you know thereâs one person interested.â he pulls his shoulders back into a small shrug, chuckling. âiâve been wantinâ to get out of the house more, make some friends. and iâm not only an avid reader but also a writer so thatâd be the perfect spot for me.â wyatt smiles warmly at the woman. âi was born and raised but moved out to new york at the age of eighteen. been back for about four months now. i grew up in the trailer park but upgraded to jupiter valley nowâwhich is probably why it does feel like the suburbs to me.â
â IâM GLAD TO HEAR THAT, â  elle smiles, and she means that. if this conversation had gone poorly, she probably never wouldâve considered the option in the first place, but now she was actually thinking about it.  â you and me both, â  she laughs.  â i desperately need a social life. oh, what kind of writer are you ? â  that immediately made her more interested, eyes sparkling.  â no kidding. well, welcome back. how do you like jupiter valley ? â  with the prospect of buying a house in the next year still on her mind, elle canât help but ask everyoneâs opinion on the roswell neighborhoods.

ELIJAH LIKED TO THINK HE knew elle pretty well by know and as much as he didnât consider himself to be living with a stranger, there were still a lot of things he didnât know about her. and that she didnât know about him. but maybe they just needed to talk more about the important things rather than avoiding them. it was definitely a hard task for him, though. âwell, plans change. mine definitely did as soon as you showed up at my door with that little blonde baby in your arms.â he smiles lightly. âbut that isnât exactly a bad thing. we can always come up with a plan together. we are already doinâ all of this together.â he shrugs. her last comment makes him scrunch up his nose slightly. âimpossible? why do you say that?â
THE WAY HE SAYS THAT MAKES HER SMILE, memory bringing her back to that nerve-wrecking evening that had turned out to be the best thing she ever did.  â donât i know it. â  itâs one of the reasons elle has tried not to plan too much of her life, opting to take it all day-by-day. as much as possible when raising a daughter, at least.  â but iâd like that. it probably wouldnât be the worst thing to have, especially as sheâs getting older. â  and iris was growing every day, so much so that elle sometimes felt like she couldnât keep up. she lets out a laugh.  â iâm a mom of a two year-old who lives with her ex. you canât tell me thatâs not enough for most guys to be wary. â  as far as baggage goes, that seemed like the motherload ( no pun intended ) .Â

HE DEFINITELY HASNâT FORGOTTEN ABOUT THE DRINKS, and her being his neighbor makes it all the easier - not that it was tough, to begin with. But now, the opportunity is right there. âCool. I canât wait to try out your cookies. That only means Iâll definitely have to buy you a drink. Itâs only fair,â he says, looking over at her to see her reaction, mainly wanting to see if sheâll become flustered and shy. âBorrow as much as you want. Take the whole jar, if youâd like.â He reaches for the jar and takes it, handing it over. âYouâd never experiment with a recipe? Try out your own thing?â
HIM BRINGING UP THE DRINKS ONLY MAKES HER LAUGH, because of course he would.  â you definitely donât have to do that, â  she tells him, although as soon as itâs out of her mouth, elleâs not sure why she said that. she DOES want to get a drink with him, she thinks. is that so wrong ?  â do you have anything here to drink ?  when iâm done with my cookies, i mean, â  elle adds quickly, so she doesnât sound THAT presumptuous. the blonde flashes him a smile in thanks when she takes the jar.  â iâll bring the rest back, i promise, â  she assures him, before hesitating.  â iâve tried a little, but usually itâs just adding or taking something away from a recipe. thereâs a science to cooking that i just donât follow. â

The knock at the door was kind of unexpected, but when Skye threw open the door, a bright smile appeared on her features. It was always nice to see Elle, in any capacity, so seeing her standing there with a birthday cake was even better. âThank you!â she gushed back, taking a step closer to look at the cake. âDid you make this yourself?â She had a feeling and had to admit to being jealous, cooking had never been her strong point. âI donât have a cake, I donât really bother now I guess⌠even if Amy wants it.â She chuckled. âCome in, I never say no to wine!â
â I DID ! â  she tells her, cheeks flushed.  â itâs just a normal birthday cake, nothing too exciting. i hope you like yellow cake ? â  it seemed to be the most basic birthday cake flavor, so elle figured she couldnât go wrong with it. elleâs eyes brighten when skye said she didnât have a cake, grateful that she wasnât bringing one thatâd end up going uneaten.  â well this if for both of you, then, â  she laughs, walking inside and bringing the cake into the kitchen to leave it. then she pulls the bottle out of her bag, passing it to her.  â what are your plans for today ? â

if you could make it work financially, would you ever consider moving out with iris?
elijah and i donât live together because i canât afford it, we do it because we both want equal custody of our daughter. i canât see either of us moving out, unless something were to change... relationships wise, i guess.Â

People you want to sleep with but haven't yet?
um, i donât really have a list of people i want to sleep with, thatâs... something else. iâm pretty sure i havenât even slept with anyone since iris was conceived, so beggars canât really be choosers. â sorry, not that iâm begging for it.

Have you ever considered having another child?
oh, definitely. generally speaking itâs something i want, but despite how well things worked out with iris, i do think iâd like it to be with someone iâm actually married to. ideally it would be nice to do it before thereâs a crazy age gap between iris and another kid, but... well, thatâs not happening any time soon.

ELLE GIVES HIM A LOOK, though she still canât help but smile.  â well thank you, alex. i really appreciate it. i probably wonât do anything until after the holidays are over, though. people usually have enough on their plate right now. â  herself included, but it was fun to think about potential for the new year, starting with a club to keep herself busy. and when it came to alex, she didnât doubt heâd spread the word for her.  â um, i donât know if we can just build something and stick it in a public place, â  she laughs lightly.  â donât you need a permit for that ? â  maybe if she had a front lawn sheâd put one there, but alas, she only lives in an apartment building.

florencia lets out another laugh as the other describes the potential theater experience seeing fifty shades of grey when it originally came out. to this day, theyâd never seen itâ and they didnât want to. it didnât seem appealing in the slightest. but, perhaps florencia was just vanilla. âyeah, uh, iâm sure they did. but youâre right, seeing it in a large group with other people just sounds⌠well⌠yeah.â they had just turned eighteen when the movie came out, so many of the girls they were obligated to spend time with went to see it as one of their first legal R-RATED movies. they always tried to get florencia to go, but lucky they could always say they had homework to do. âthatâs reassuring. i can definitely make time for it, then.â her smile lights up even more when elle mentions the stalk market. âyeah! thatâs my shop, actually.â they hated to say outright that THEY OWNED IT, but they were also proud of the achievement. of course, a lot of it couldnât be done without her brother. he really did a lot to help her stay afloat. but, she was proud of the way itâs grown. âiâve seen you at the antique store. i, uh, i go there sometimes to get little gifts for my mother.â
â I THINK MY MOM SAW IT IN THEATREâS WITH HER FRIENDS, â  she admits, nose scrunching as she unlocks that memory.  â which pretty much solidified me not wanting to go. â  it was safe to assume most of the movie-goers were middle aged women like her mother, looking for something spicy that was more acceptable than porn to watch. in their defense, at least jamie dornan is hot. elleâs grateful she brought up the stalk market as a change in subject, if for no other reason than to see the smile on the otherâs face brighten beautifully.  â really ? â  it makes sense why she takes so much pride in it, then, and elle beams back.  â thatâs really cool. how long have you been there ? â  eyebrows raise slightly at the mention of the antique store, before recognition settles in her face.  â oh, right !  thatâs definitely where iâve seen you before. itâs not often we get customers under fifty, â  she jokes.Â

âi donât know if iâm the kinda guy you should be taking interior design advice from, unless youâre prepared to spend a small fortune on furnishing your house.â itâd been nothing compared to the house heâd lived in before, at least - but he knew that it was more than most people spent decorating a house. âbut yeah, come over, check it out. iâd like to think the place looks nice, but not many people really come over and see it.â his habitual need to maintain his privacy, leftover from his time as a celebrity, certainly hadnât faded in his time away from the spotlight. âiâll think about it, yeah? maybe iâll just take a peek at what youâre reading each month before i decide whether i wanna show up or not.â
â I ALSO HAVE SKYE TO HELP, IF YOU KNOW HER. but really i just like looking at ideas. â  itâs not like any furniture that costs hundreds of dollars doesnât have a cheaper counterpart somewhere, probably ikea.  â itâs not a man-cave, is it ? â  she teases, unable to help herself. why else would people not come over to see it ?  the offer makes her cheeks flush a little, though she tries not to think too much into it.  â yeah, definitely. ideally thereâs enough people interested that they can come in and out each month as much as they want, and thereâd still be enough people each month to do a decent meeting. thatâs what iâd want, at least. â  elleâs sort of making this up as she goes along.

âyouâre right, weâll be fine. and iâm sure iâll feel differently once the babyâs here. itâs just.. hard.â it had been months of pent up emotions she couldnât exactly share with family, who were all excited beyond belief, so at the opportunity to speak all of her worries and doubts about an unplanned pregnancy with someone young, and would understand, juniper jumps. and perhaps as her lips move, itâs a bit far of a jump. âhe seems like heâs a good dad. and you two⌠donât sleep together at all?â face twists with mild skepticism. âi feel like, if i were you and i saw my childâs dad kissing boo-boos and singing lullabies iâd want to jump his bones constantly.â
â HONESTLY, ONCE THE BABY COMES, youâll probably be too tired to think about it, â  she smiles slightly.  â just enjoy yourself now, before the baby comes. iâm sure i donât need to tell you about the sleepless nights youâll be dealing with. â  elleâs not going to lie about the stressors of having a newborn, but thereâs no doubt that juni and jaden will be alright. itâs learning curve.  â heâs great, â  she nods.  â he spends a lot of time with her now, since i went back to work. it worked out really well. â  she knows juniâs only voicing the question that most probably have when they hear about her situation, but when she says it like that, the blondeâs cheeks canât help but flush.  â i... weâre just not like that, â  elle shakes her head.  â i thought itâd be weirder at first, moving in together when we barely knew each other, but youâd be surprised how much time goes into taking care of a kid. itâs a little easier now that sheâs not so young, but we havenât... â  she clears her throat.  â itâs not like i havenât thought about it, obviously, but i donât think heâsâ â  nope, not finishing that sentence.  â itâs probably better off, anyway. i wouldnât want us to do something that we couldnât take back, and then it ruins the relationship we currently have. for iris. â
