ellie sometimes swung by blue bar to relieve some old memories. she used to be a waitress there and, in a way, this job was part of the reason why she had charlie, and part of the reason why her life looked the way it did now. the place held a lot of memories for her and sometimes, when charlie was with his dad or with his grandma, ellie liked to come here. “wait, sorry, what?” she asked, turning to look at the stranger seated beside her, a shadow of sadness in her eyes. the young mother was drinking a coke, only really there trying to feel like the girl she was when she used to wait tables at this bar, young and wild and crazy in love with the bartender. he wasn’t there anymore and she felt perpetually exhausted, but it was nice thinking back to those times.
magdalena really didn’t need to have a job. like at all. but she had so much fun working at the blue bar and the extra cash was never a burden. she had just gotten off of her last shift of a week straight of full nights. counting her tips for the night she grinned, deciding she should treat herself after the long week. maggie sat at the bar, opposite to where she had been for hours on end. ordering a couple jagerbombs the brunette sighed in relief, turning to the person near by she smiled, “don’t you just love money?”

Sky shook her head. She wasn’t sure what she was expecting out of this. The mother’s words hurt. A lot. She was partially right. Sky wasn’t showing Sam about much she loved him. She knew that was on her, but what Ellie didn’t know what that she had years and years of trauma that she was still trying to work through. Hell, she was probably never be able to work through it all. Sky knew she was selfish, materialistic, and didn’t always make the right choices. But she was fucked up. The part of her brain that was supposed to help her make good decisions didn’t always work. She was also career driven. A hard worker. She grew up with nothing, and her aspirations were the only thing that really kept her going. She couldn’t give up on baby Aaliyah. Sky knew that wasn’t an excuse though. But, hell, that didn’t mean she didn’t love Sam as much and as hard as she could. She wanted to give him everything in the damn world so that he could just focus on his music and quit his dumb serving job at that posh restaurant. “You don’t know me.” She said, coldly. She crossed her legs and arms, her dark eyes glaring over at the brunette. “You don’t know me. How dare you tell me and Sam how I love him. I love him more than I’ve ever loved anything in my life. I grew up…” She paused, unsure if she wanted to tell Ellie everything about herself. After a beat, she decided against it. “…Just stay out of my relationship and don’t ever assume anything about me.”
the young woman rolled her eyes. “i don’t know how many times you need me to tell you this, but i didn’t talk to him about you. i know that i don’t know you and i don’t know all the ins and outs of your relationship, but i know sam. and i know what he deserves.” she spoke with all the certainty in the world because once upon a time she’d tried to give it to him, and she was able to make him happy for a while — and maybe if she didn’t have charlie she would’ve tried to be with him again, but ellie knew that she was going through too many changes and that sam wasn’t really ready to be a step father anyway. ellie was just happy being his friend again. “and look, yeah. maybe you do love him, i don’t know. but i know sam, and i know what he looks like when he’s happy, and that was certainly not what he looked like at that halloween party, and that’s why i talked to him. it was never personal or even about you. all i want is for sam to be happy, but it’s up to him to choose what makes him happy. you can’t decide for him and neither can i.” the young brunette said, and took a sip of her iced coffee.

cilliankelly:
he was terrified of what other people would think. he thought about his dad and his stomach sank. cillian’s irrational need to please his dad was always fucking with him. most people put in his position would probably cut the old man out of their lives completely and not look back. bur cillian so desperately craved the kind of father son relationship he’d seen between so many of the other young boys and their fathers growing up. he couldn’t shake the thought that his dad would never love him. not if he ever found out about this. it was hard to feel a sense of accomplishment of growth when he was so paralyzed with fear. “oh, he’s gonna kill me,” cillian whispered, his voice full of genuine fear, though ellie couldn’t have known he was referring to his dad. “i don’t think i’ll be fine,” he said then. “ i feel like i’m gonna be sick.” the combination of fear, confusion, shame, and alcohol was not doing wonders for his stomach and cillian felt as if he were just shy of some sort of nervous break.
ellie chuckled. “no he won’t.” she replied, thinking cillian was talking about jude, not about his father. the young woman linked her fingers together and put them on top of her stomach, eyes on the ceiling. “you’ll be fine, cil. maybe not right away, but sometime.” the brunette hummed, eyes turning to look back at him. “oh -- oh you do look sick.” she said, sitting up. “you wanna sit up, maybe hit the bathrooms ?” the girl asked, wanting to make sure he was fine.

The singer was still shocked that the brunette even bothered to show up here. Part of her hoped that she wouldn’t, know that this would probably come back to bite her in the ass. Sky sat up straight and crossed her legs onto the couch, positioning herself to face the younger. She looked exhausted. Of course, she had a two month old. Not even. Sky had plenty of time to get ready this morning, but she had spent the past few days in bed crying. So she probably looked just as bad under all the makeup and cute outfit. “Do you hate me or something? Why would you try to convince Sam to break up with me?” She rolled her eyes. “And don’t try to tell me you didn’t. I know you’re jealous of us. I’m not an idiot.” She spat, giving her a look of disgust.
ellie looked at sky and remembered the days where she had the time and energy to make herself up that much and she couldn’t help but miss it a little — it wasn’t like she downright couldn’t or didn’t want to, she had just started to embrace a sense of practicality and comfort when it came to her clothes and appearance. her hair was in a ponytail and she was wearing a little bit of makeup, a chic coat covering up an oversized tshirt and jeans. she knew that it maybe wasn’t her best look, but she couldn’t be bothered to put on something tighter or put on a full face of makeup ( not that there was enough concealer to fully cover up her raccoon looking eyes anyway,) let alone do her hair in a more complicated do. she kept sipping her iced coffee as sky started speaking, feet up on the couch. the young mom just wanted to go snuggle her baby and take a few hours to rest, and yet here she was. when sky told her she knew she was jealous of them, ellie couldn’t help but chuckle. “jealous? of what? a secret relationship based on codependency? i might have gotten epically dumped but i’m not that desperate either.” she replied, shaking her head lightly. “sky, the truth is that i don’t really care enough about you to try and drive sam away from you. i know that maybe you’re not used to hearing this, but this isn’t about you. what i care about is sam, and i didn’t convince him to break up with you. you and i both know he’s selfless when it comes to love and he would do anything for those he loves — all i did was remind him that he deserves someone who loves him that way back, and personally, i don’t think you do. but he’s a grown man who can make his own decisions, and breaking up with you was his choice. the fact that you don’t like it is more of a you problem.” ellie said, keeping her voice calm and collected.

ellie was not looking forward to this in the slightest. she was stressed, tired, charlie was cranky, and on top of everything she had to deal with this. the young mother dropped off charlie with one of her old friends from high school -- she told her that she could take as long as she wanted, but ellie was determined to pick him back up in an hour at most. with an ice coffee in hand and shades still on her face, the young woman walked into the venue. “alright, i’m here. what was so important ?” she asked, taking off her sunglasses and putting them in the pocket of her coat. ellie took a seat across from sky, sipping on her coffee.
She said ‘meet me at the theatre at 12′ without really even knowing what the fuck she was going to say. She’d thought about a million different things she could say to her. She was mad. At everyone and this whole situation. She wasn’t mad at Sam though. She couldn’t be. She wondered if Ellie was even going to show up. She had a whole baby. Sky sipped on her iced coffee as she sat on one of the couches set out on the stage were the sat for rehearsals during the first several days of rehearsal - laughing, getting to know each other and getting into character. The theatre brought her so much joy, and it kinda sucked that she was going to have such a painful memory here when this conversation was over. But she certainly wasn’t asking the girl over to her home. She sighed, convinced that there was no way she’d actually showed her face until she heard someone opened the creaking entrance door to the theatre and walk down the hallway.
