Unit 9
Jobs I’m considering pursing after this course:
Travel Photographer- I can travel to certain places across the world and capture them for magazines and holiday brochures, I love to capture different cultures and landscapes and feel that this would be an amazing job to have.
Wedding/Party Photographer- I love to capture special moments and this would be able to fit around obstacles I might face as I get older such as having children and so on and so forth.
Commercial Photography- I like to studio work and feel that I have strong images and could aid in advertising products.

Course structure: In Year 1 you'll consider the significance of environments from a variety of cultural, social and political perspectives. You'll be introduced to a wide range of practices, ideas and technologies that will enable you to interrogate the notion of representation identity through photography. You'll enhance your understanding of the constructed nature of images and how this may be manipulated to synthesize meaning. In Year 2 you'll experiment with alternative forms of image-making that pushes the traditional limits of photography, and explore narrative conventions - learning to critique and analyse the way storytelling has been used throughout the history of art, culture, media and photography. In Year 3 you'll employ an experimental and creative approach to the generation of ideas and the making of work, and will produce a dissertation that is closely related to the contextual and/or theoretical concerns of your photographic practice.
Why I’m personally interested in the course: I’m particularly interested in this course as they have a wide range of industry partners such as Getty images, 125 magazine and many more. I also like how close the campus is to both the city and where I live as it means easier access in and out of London as well as having the option to stay at home and save money instead of having to find accommodation although this campus guarantees accommodation of its own.

Course structure: BA Photography at Camberwell College of Arts adopts an open and experimental approach to fine art photographic practice, stressing the development of personal enquiry negotiated through frequent dialogue and regular opportunities to exhibit work. The course questions and proposes new forms for practice within and beyond lens based practice.

Personal Statement: A good personal statement gets across who you are as individual and explains what it is that gets you excited about the particular course you’re applying for, positivity is the key when writing a personal statement and you should never be negative. Tell them why you are excited about the course, did you read an article on it? Did that get you inspired? Did you then go and see a lecture from somebody? That made you think that it’s amazing and you would love to do a project on it. The evidence for this could come from work experience, outside reading all the things you do that can back up your interest in the course. After that you need to think about the transferrable skills that would help you cope with that course such as communication, essay writing and leadership. Once you’ve done this you need to condense the words to look more like an opening statement and start with a punchy opening paragraph which is where you state how excited you are and you understand what you’re getting yourself into. The middle paragraph should have evidence to prove your interest in the particular course as well as your skills and good qualities and then you move onto the end section, which has the personal touch, this is the bit that shows you are unique. But you must remember to be relevant about the course you are applying for and not to ramble on to much as well as not being arrogant and keep it to plain English with no flowery language and no clichés.
Photographers Websites:
I love the layout of this photographers work as her images are simple and so is her theme on instagram, I also love her analogue work and find it simplistic yet intriguing.
I find Auch’s website very plain and hardly any of his images are displayed when your first enter the website. I feel that the website looks similar to a newspaper due to how its been laid out and that the title is centred and is red.
I love Timothy Hogans’s website as the picture behind changes as shows all of his commercial photography, as well as having links to his other work at the side and his social media links down the bottom.
